I cannot understate the scale of this thing. It's comically huge

Can you make an overlay with Cape Canaveral an Boca Chica for comparison?

Thank you dude!!! I think KSC is still bigger, right?

Slightly bigger yup

Would love to see comparisons to NASA 👀

Holy sh*t 😭 SpaceX IS the new NASA

Look up the scale of the new Meta Data center in North Richland Parish in North Louisiana. It's supposed to be the biggest in the world by multiples. It needs 7 new power plants. They gave the power company a billion dollars to get started.

You mean overstate

The Starbase Louisiana facility is planned to span approximately 125,000 to 130,000 acres (roughly 212 square miles or approximately 506 to 526 square kilometers (km²)) of coastal wetlands near Pecan Island in Vermilion Parish. The $100 billion spaceport is being designed as a self-sustaining "small city". At full buildout, it will feature 10 to 12+ Starship launch towers, its own propellant production, power generation plants, deep-water cargo docks, an airport, and dedicated residential housing for employees

I am no expert and don't have the tools to overlap maps but it appears to be a similar size to Cape Canaveral, just turned 90 degrees.

Yup

The space I'm working on in blender is 32 km east-west by 20 km north-south

Overstate. You cannot overstate.

I may have been a little tired when posting that

Could be even more infrastructure than that 😅

Better be built to withstand hurricanes. I know NASA Michoud near New Orleans has a high dike around it with big water pumps to pump out Hurricane surge water.

It’s kinda hard to get a good grasp of the sites proportions without something to contrast it against. Could you, perhaps, add a banana for scale?

We should be building more things so large we have to account for the curvature of the earth when designing them

I intend to release a video on this facility today (including my analysis of pros and cons). May I please use your amazing visuals?

Sure thing

Just posted. Thanks!! SpaceX has just made perhaps the biggest announcement in Spaceflight History! Ten launch pads! Thousands of Starship launches a year! But why is Elon Musk REALLY building it? Here's my in depth Analysis!

Well.... 20 km, thats about the length of the Executor Class Star destroyer.... so now we know which league Elon plays in .

Why the fuck are they buiding it in louisiana which is prone to flooding and Hurricanes. Are they retarded ?

You’ll be able to watch the rocket launches from downtown Houston skyscrapers.

@SpaceIntel101 Roughly the same size as all the land at the Cape in Florida I think. USA long needed another Cape Canaveral. 50 years late.

Are hurricanes of any concern?

Interesting enough I grew up there... that area just west of Freshwater City Locks which you can see on the eastern border literally has nothing on it... the marsh is to the north of that other side of the highway... to the west is the Rockafeller refuge which is the only area I am worried about... best Redfishing in the area

@elonmusk is going to save the Residents of Louisiana a fortune In coastal restoration.

Back in the late 80s I worked on a oil drill rig in the marsh in Creole, next to this site. Those waters are loaded with blue crab.

What she said

Can you show overlays of Vandenberg and KSC/Cape Canaveral so as to compare them to the scale of the new Starship complex?

They will use what, 1%, The rest is just buffer against what ifs.

Katrina

I cannot overstate how little sense this sentence makes. Right @grok?

That's what she said

Please learn the difference between “understate” and “overstate”. I can’t overstate the improvement it’ll make.

The staggering figure is that at $100B, it's only half as much as Gavin Newscum has pissed away on his high-speed rail from nowhere to nowhere.

That’s what she said

hey @RepHankJohnson should we be concerned that @SpaceX may flip over the State of Louisiana?

@GreatSpaceXXX94 Wonder if someone can overlay it over DFW AirPort? One of the worlds largest by size.

@SpaceIntel101 Comically huge’ is an understatement. At this scale it’s basically its own time zone. 😂

I would have thought a location with a higher elevation would have more longevity.
