I HATE that I’d rather watch street food vlogs on YouTube for 3 hours instead of playing video games

Remember the good ole days when consoles had a OFF BUTTON🚨. Now we have to cycle through menus, log out, then confirm.

I bought a 32” tube tv yesterday, mint condition sitting unused in this dudes basement for 20 years. I bought a 17” 1600x1200@65hz crt computer monitor a couple days before that. I have a custom gaming PC, NES, Genesis, PS2, Xbox 360, Wii, GameCube, steam deck and anbernic RG350M, I have tens of thousands of ROMs from Atari up through GameCube and some beyond that. Why would I bother with modern consoles? If I started today I couldn’t finish all the old games I never played by the time I die. No online. No achievements (outside of some 360 stuff which I just ignore). No constant updating on retro titles. I fired up Half Life 2 on the crt monitor and it literally looks better on that than on my 240hz oled. Rocket league at 65hz on a CRT is literally equal to 240hz on an oled. The motion clarity of CRTs is just unreal and the tech is ancient. I’m trying to say we lost something. Somewhere after the turn of the century we lost our way. We had it all. We had high def CRTs (they can do 3D natively, did you know that?) we had games that came ON TIME AND COMPLETELY FINISHED. You used to turn on your console and jump straight into a game. There are so many old games that look bonkers beautiful fantastic on CRT and they’re CHEAP on steam sales or FREE if you know where to look, didn’t have woke shit in them, don’t need patching, don’t have add ons, and they were crafted with more love than modern games.

It’s because y’all are babies playing games like you are still in primary school. If you wanna enjoy the games play maturely. Have a list of games you wanna play and have your targets apart from soccer and any competitive games like racing don’t have two adventure games at the same time on your console, finish one first before you move to the rest celebrate your win when you finish a game and post it. Then sell off the game you finish and get another one on your list you will enjoy gaming more. Just finished mafia old county very lovely game. My next list 1) Ghost of Yotei 2) 007 first kill 3) wolverine With this now it will buy me like 1 or more years to enjoy the console by the time i finish them and by that time another one will be out. Also i will be playing FIFA with friends in between the adventures or play FIFA coop season online playing with people worldwide. You will enjoy it more y’all are no longer kids playing different games for the whole day

It's because you're growing out of it. You just keep doing the same mundane things in these games every year, and you're starting to realize there's nothing new under the sun. Every hour spent in a video game is an hour lost in the real world. When you get sucked into the fantasy, it's as if you don't even exist in the real world anymore. You're sacrificing your life to a window that leads to nowhere.

Plus its console so it’s even worse… downloading games you already have on a disc, making room for other ones, updates every 10 mins for firmware and software… its like they’re trying to make it not fun

I’m like this with games with long ass unskippable cutscenes. Or games that start off slow. I’ll cut that shit off fast. I ain’t got time, I’m gettin old.

Am I the only one that feels like they don't actually have enough time to game? Life and its responsibilities demand too much to be able to reserve time for fantasy.
