Bethesda love the 'annoying fan' concept, they did the samething in Starfield.

Having him follow you around and go through the oblivion gates with you was peak entertainment. When you closed the gate he would be dead 99% of the time…only to respawn later and find you again 🤣

Haven't played the original, why do people hate him? He seems like your own personal simp who can tell you how awesome you are. (Also, are companions going to be marked as unkillable like in Skyrim? As long as they know to shut up, I don't want them to die on me.

This mfr ruined my game. He wouldn't stop following me ,snitched for everything, and even attacked me. I'd leave him in Oblivion and he would still make it back.
