In my opinion, the single biggest upgrade Samsung should make to the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is to bring the Galaxy Z Flip 8's ultra-thin bezels to it. Just shrinking the bezels one more step would completely transform the Fold 8's look. It would easily become the best-looking book-style foldable in my eyes.

This is one of the foldable phones with the least visible crease in the world, the OPPO Find N6. Even after hundreds of folds, it only develops a few very subtle creases. This has long been OPPO's design philosophy. Instead of concentrating the stress into a single crease, it distributes it across several shallower, less noticeable creases, making each one much less visible. The upcoming Galaxy Z Fold8 takes a different approach. It features just one relatively shallow crease instead of multiple shallow ones like the OPPO. The two devices simply follow different engineering solutions to reduce crease visibility.

Now I can confidently say that, among all the foldable phones I've tested, the Galaxy Z Fold8 has the best crease control and the flattest display. Let's compare it with the previous benchmark, the OPPO Find N6. After repeatedly comparing the two, my conclusion is clear: OPPO's approach is excellent, but Samsung has taken it one step further. The Z Fold8's inner display is noticeably flatter, looking and feeling almost like a rigid display rather than a flexible one. Its crease is also the least noticeable I've seen so far.

Let’s compare the crease on OPPO Find N6 on day one vs after a month of use. And also against OPPO Find N5 after a full year. I can tell you that the crease on the Find N5 feels noticeably more pronounced than on the Find N6. Visually, you can still spot it on both under certain lighting. But on the Find N6, when you run your finger across it, you can barely feel the fold. So yeah, OPPO’s "Zero-Feel Crease" claim is actually pretty accurate.

The low-quality dummy model of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide has already appeared online. Its build quality is far from the real device, so it should only be used as a rough reference. From what I know, Samsung’s internal testers are actually very fond of this device. Maybe it’s because the form factor feels fresh and different.

There are animations on the outer display, yet the same actions have no animations on the inner display. On the very same Galaxy Z Fold 8, simply switching screens gives you two completely inconsistent interaction experiences. If Samsung can’t even maintain a consistent experience on the same device, how can you expect it to deliver a truly consistent software experience across different Galaxy models?

The hinge uses a special CAM structure with two ridge-shaped parts that interlock in stages, helping keep the device unfolded for Flex Mode. The Galaxy Z Fold2 also has stronger retention force, keeping the device unfolded at 180° and preventing it from accidentally closing.
