I checked through the comment section of the quoted post and I couldn’t help but shrug and shake my head in shame for how very evidently the “Olodo Uprising” appears in every one of our conversations. The poster asked, “Who is this boy?” The answers were, “na big boy... o.” “Them say e guide.” “Omo, no be small boy o. Na big boy. E guide.” Everyone is fixated on his possession. Kudos to 2-3 persons who had seen him and, at least, could identify that he does a decent job. Nearly all commenters cared less about what he does or what his name is. All they’re focused on is “the boy guide. Na big boy. I wan know the big boy.” We have become too mentally attached to material possessions that we have reduced ourselves to mere money-worshipers. Only a few care more about craft and personality. Anyways, for those who may care to know, the young man is Samson Akpan - an adult Nigerian who has built a tech career and a startup. Last week in Harrison, Arkansas, 16-year-old Brayden Anderson was with a group of friends when a gun being handled by another boy accidentally discharged. Brayden was struck and killed. The young man holding that weapon has since been charged with negligent homicide. Tomorrow, Brayden will be laid to rest. His father, Aaron, has invited everyone to Brayden’s Celebration of Life. The community. The first responders who were on scene that day. Every teenager who was in that room when Brayden was killed. Everyone. He has made it clear that there will be no hatred, no hostility and no pointing fingers. Tonight, I watched this video of Aaron saying he forgives the boy who was holding the gun. “Two lives were destroyed that day… We still have a chance to save one.” That stopped me. This man is preparing to bury his 16-year-old son, and he is worried about the boy who accidentally killed him. He knows that boy will carry this for the rest of his life, and he doesn’t want this tragedy to destroy what remains of it. I don’t know if I could do what Aaron is doing. I look at the way he is walking through the unimaginable, and I see a Christ-centered life in a way I can only dream of living one day. There is something incredibly humbling about watching someone live out the faith I profess when it costs this much. Please watch his video. And please pray. Pray for Aaron and his family as they lay Brayden to rest tomorrow. Pray for the kids who were in that room. Pray for the first responders who answered that call. After a football game on the streets, the footballer Kelechi Iheanacho bought water from him. But when it was time to pay, Kelechi realized he had no money on him. He told the boy. While we help so many dogs on a daily basis when I go to sleep at night I always drift off thinking of the dogs I’ve been lucky enough to meet that are no longer with us. Tina, Snoop, Jumbo, Alba, Coconut and the dozens others I’ve lost. There is one boy who always pops into that with his big warm face and gentle nature... Derek. There never was a more gentle boy. A more gracious dog. He loved his little suite at the land and his last weeks in my house were just magical to have him. He could have gone alone and on the streets but he left with his dignity and a head full of beautiful memories for me. ❤️

The only thing I knew about Jason Altmire before I invited him onto the podcast was that he’d written a terrific book about the importance of reinvigorating the skilled trades, and that he was the current President and CEO of CECU, a national trade association representing private career schools and trade programs. I didn’t know he was a life-long Democrat who had served three terms in Congress. I didn’t know he lost his reelection because he voted against the Affordable Care Act, or that he had the most centrist voting record in the House when he got out of politics. All I knew was that he shared my interest in closing America’s skills gap by making a more persuasive case for the skilled trades. And now, we're friends. I have no idea what this guy might have accomplished had he survived his own primary, but he didn't, and the reason is clear - our current system is designed to smother even-handed, commonsensical, moderate voices who care about the country, on both sides of the aisle. To those of you who have urged me to enter politics, this is why I haven’t. To get the endorsement of your party, you have to fall in line. And I’m not a big fan of falling. Or lines, for that matter. And I guess, neither is Jason. Who else would object to the border fence between Mexico and the US, based on the fact that it was constructed of steel imported from China? Anyway, that’s all behind him. Like many of his predecessors, once upon a time, Jason did his time and then returned to the real world and got busy. Today, he’s focused on reimagining our workforce, and I’m super interested in what he’s already accomplished. What a fun, non-partisan, totally worthwhile conversation. A short clip is below. What an incredibly large-hearted and brave child he is. This little boy is not even four. In a very unfortunate incident, his hand got accidentally stuck in a machine and doctors had to chop it off. The child is Dakshesh Gupta from Jammu. When a reporter asked him what happened, the boy said - “Bhagwan wanted my hand, and I gave it”. When asked if he felt pain, the boy put up a brave front and said - “nahi, sachchi mein nahi” (not at all, I say the truth). When he saw his mother crying profusely, he became protective of her and said - “please get her water”. The mother appealed to the reporter for monetary help for the child’s surgery. After this news report posted three weeks ago went viral, support poured in. Over 20 lakh has been raised. I don’t know exactly what will doctors do now, but looks like the brave boy will be better soon. Hats off to the reporter. Lots of love and wishes for the boy. May Ishwar bless him always

Gosh!! The moment he clocked it…❤️❤️ This boy is 14 years old and asking all the right questions. No wonder Jesus said in Matthew 19:14 "Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them! For the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these” The boy is scared for his life and the fact that this is on YouTube is crazy. I pray that he is safe. I pray that Christ will draw this little boy in and reveal himself to him with no doubt

So the boy has been expelled and his father received a pubic disgrace. It is quite unfortunate. I have read comments on social media alluding to the fact that the boy’s father is a perfect gentleman. Seems like people know him fairly well. Testimonies abound to the fact that he treats people well and cannot hurt a fly. So, how did this happen to his son? What went wrong? May our children not surprise us. May they not shame us. I also noticed something in this video. The boy was apologising to the crowd booing him. Is that a sign of true remorse? Is there any chance that he can be reformed? I also hope that the other kids who equally molested the pupil were disciplined including the one who made that video recording. I ask again; I hope the bullied pupil is okay especially emotionally and psychologically. So many talking points in this saga. Quite unfortunate indeed. #saynotobullying #justice #parenting

THE BOY UNDER THE DESK I was that boy. Small-framed. Easy target. In the early 1980s, in a secondary school, bigger boys and seniors who should have known better, decided that my size was an invitation. I was tortured. I was maimed. I was made to crawl under a desk and hold myself in that fetal position for hours. Hours. Nobody called it bullying then. It had a different name - rite of passage. As though surviving cruelty was the qualification for manhood. I survived. I grew. I became. But what nobody tells you about survival is that; the boy under the desk never fully leaves. He sits quietly somewhere inside the man at this table. For years, I carried what happened to me in silence, and suffered bouts of depression because I couldn't tell no soul. Not even my parents. That silence was the real crime. Not just the silence of a frightened boy, but the silence of teachers who saw and looked away. The silence of peers who laughed and said nothing. The silence of a system that confused cruelty with character-building. The silence of a culture that said this is how boys become men. But here is where it gets concerning. The bully didn't disappear when school ended. He graduated. He entered our offices, institutions, and government houses. The boy who learned that size and fear were power, is still performing that lesson, in bigger arenas, and with higher stakes. This is why I am today calling for a dedicated national anti-bullying law that formally defines and recognizes bullying as a harm distinct from general misconduct, mandates every school to have a written anti-bullying policy, creates reporting obligations for school administrators, and establishes consequences for institutional cover-up or negligence. Regulation (under the supervision of the Ministry of Education) must also extend to teacher training institutions. Pre-service and in-service training should include child safeguarding, bullying identification, and intervention methods. A teacher who cannot recognise or respond to bullying is an institutional liability. I might have been that boy under the desk. But I refuse to be that adult that says nothing.
