I confronted Greg Bovino, but it’s clear ICE/CBP will continue to terrorize our communities. We need rapid responders out immediately with whistles ready to warn our neighbors. We must keep each other safe.

Donald Trump has brought his lawlessness to Minnesota, sending ICE agents here to divide and terrorize our communities. But House DFLers will always stand with our neighbors. We are Minnesotans. And Minnesotans have each other’s backs.

When I joined community organizers in the Back of the Yards neighborhood today, we saw ICE activity in the area and spent the afternoon making sure our neighbors know their rights and could get home safely. Greg Bovino and his out-of-control agents should know that their authoritarian tactics are not welcome here. In Illinois, we look out for our neighbors, and we’ll continue speaking up and working to keep our communities safe. Together we are stronger. #IncreaseThePeace

This isn’t about me, but this is personal. I will not stand idly by and watch ICE terrorize our neighbors and threaten our collective right to live free from fear. When one of us is targeted, all of us are called to action. We protect each other. We defend each other.

As ICE continues to terrorize our communities, Andy Kim and I are in Bloomfield standing with local activists—defending our democracy, educating people about their rights, and making sure our neighbors know how to protect one another. When we fight, we win!

DHS saying ICE wasn’t conducting an operation is pure BS. We’ve seen the admin lie consistently, and our communities know what we saw. Immigrant advocates and our neighbors will keep looking out for each other and staying vigilant.

At Friday prayers I joined Mohamud Noor to talk about what families can do to stay safe while ICE is active in our neighborhoods. We broke down the basics: know your rights, stay connected, and reach out for help if you need it. Our communities are strongest when we protect each other—and we always will.

House Republicans will have NO part in zeroing out CBP and ICE. Democrats need to STOP protecting criminal illegal aliens and playing games with real people’s lives. We must support Homeland Security, get our government running again, and PAY our hardworking law enforcement who keep us safe. House Republicans have voted to fully fund DHS **four times** and will keep fighting for a solution.

BORDER PATROL COMMANDER GREG BOVINO: “Murders, rapists, gang members, they're not the people we want in our community.” “We will continue enforcing the law, we will continue making arrests and we will continue working to keep Minneapolis safe.” “The mission continues at the border and in the interior. Because that effective enforcement depends on both occurring at the same time."

ICE threw me and other protestors to the ground on Friday because we dared to stand up for our neighbors. I’m okay, but our communities aren’t. We can't afford apathy or inaction from our leaders right now. Abolishing ICE is a moral necessity.
