Overnight, drones paralyzed Northern Europe’s largest airport. Copenhagen suspects Russia Denmark’s Kastrup Airport was shut down for four hours last night after two or three large drones appeared over the runway, forcing nearly 200 flights in Copenhagen and Oslo to be delayed or canceled. Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen called it “the most serious attack on infrastructure in the country’s history” and did not rule out Russia’s involvement. Police said the drones were operated by “highly competent pilots.” They were not shot down due to the risk of debris falling on the runway. The drones later disappeared and could not be located. Passengers complained of being left without food or shelter during the disruption. Meanwhile, Norway reported a similar incident at Oslo Airport, where drones were also spotted. Several flights had to be diverted to Bergen.

Before our conversation, I accepted the letters of credence from the new Danish Ambassador to Ukraine, Thomas Lund-Sørensen, and congratulated him on the start of his diplomatic mission. We recently visited Copenhagen, and I am grateful to Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, the government, and the entire Danish people for their unwavering support for Ukraine since the first days of the full-scale invasion. Today, the minister and I discussed the continuation of our defense cooperation, the participation of Danish companies in Ukraine’s reconstruction, and the development of joint projects. The Danish model has helped boost the production of our drones and missiles, ensuring a real contribution to our resilience. Thank you, Denmark.
