I could talk about ceramics, the process, and the science for an hour and not touch on one tenth of it. I hope it makes sense to you. It makes sense to me. Thanks for coming to my short ted talk on ceramic glaze chemistry and color

Look at Chichen Itza pyramid in the Yucatán peninsula Mexico. They built that sucker 1100 years ago so that during the Equinox the sun casts a shadow on the stairs resembling a serpent’s body. Stone serpent head rests at the bottom to complete the effect.

Familiar, pretty much every ancient structure has solar alignments all the way back to the mound culture that existed here in the Americas before they were wiped out by the nomadic Indian tribes in the 12-1300s ad. I live on ground once occupied by the mound culture

Had no idea so much chemistry was involved. Fascinating. Hoping to grab one when they become available.

I live in MN and in an area where bricks were made long ago. There’s lots of red clay but some white. If you need any clay, let me know. We have a ravine and creek that run through our property and there’s lots of white clay down there. Just a thought. I know you aren’t that far away, so you may have it yourself.

I do source clay from MN. But there is no naturally occuring clays that can go high fire anymore. Clay is a science and it's specific to the gram for proportion mix of elements.
