I couldn't figure out the solution to this "move 2 matchsticks" problem in an escape room. Can you figure it out?

Had a bunch of wrong ideas, then an idea with the right number in the wrong spot, but eventually got it with the hint: . . . . . . Move the top and bottom sticks of the 0 to turn the 1 into a 4, and you have 7 + 4 = 11

move to trash two stick and it will become 1 - 1 =0 :)

Move the top and bottom of the zero onto the one to make a four: 7 + 4 = 11

7 = 7 - 0

Remove 1 match stick and you'll have: | + | = 0 Your hand holding a match stick means that the carry flag is set.

I moved the top top and top right of 0. Rotating the top right making it 6 and moving the top to before 1. 7+ -1=6

Move the top and bottom stick from the 0 to the 1. Turn the 1 into 4.

Since there is a solution moving one matchstick, we can simply move that one to any other stick and then move the second stick to the new location...

Why can’t I make 7 - 7 = 0? Move any stick from 0 to the 1 and make it a 7. Turn the plus into a minus and remake the 0. 2 sticks moved to make a true statement.

1-1≠8 also works by moving stick from the 7 and +

I can move one match stick to make it true. Move the top of the seven to make it -1

7-1=6

If you touch ONLY the + & = then you can arrange the match sticks as 7=7-0

I moved just one and it became 7-7

So my solution has still not appeared… take the upper part of the 1 and drop it across the zero: 7+ı=8. Use the second move to center the ı so it doesn’t look so weird.

Move the bottom horizontal on the zero to the middle horizontal on the zero. Move the bottom left vertical line on the zero and place it on the equal sign but diagonally. 7+1 does not equal 9

With one it's possible. -of + goes to the 1

-1 + 1 =0

What about 7=7-0?

Contrary to your hint, I would move the horizontal line from the plus sign up to turn the 1 into a 7. And the vertical line that remains into a horizontal position to make it a minus. 7 - 7 =0 Done ✅

2+1=3

7-7=0

1-1=0. Take away those two... top of seven and vertical on plus. Put them away from the equation. Or... centered underneath each One.

-1+1=0 ?
