I created this post-apocalyptic scene in #Blender as soon as EEVEE Next was released. Faster render times than Cycles. Not a replacement, but a different tool with its own aesthetic. That slightly stylized look actually adds to the atmosphere. Color grading did the rest. #cgi

More #eevee stuff. Originally intended for Cycles, but I'm curious how it looked in Eevee. And again, it looks good already. The only addition I had was in the real-time compositor to push the dark and light areas, and some color adjustment. There are a few point lights near the wall to fake the GI, carried over from the Cycles scene, which helps a lot in this case. #b3d

This is only slightly less cringe than when Scott Wiener did it. I appreciate the “gotcha” that Wiener did the thing, but Bessent actually has the “real” Niki. It’s not disastrous… But I don’t think this video was a great idea.

Disney color had its own distinct look, and that look can be attributed to their paint that they created in-house. Known as “cel-vinyl”, Disney would mix pigments, precipitating chalk, and a gum arabic solution to create over 5,000 different shades of color. The paint, a water-based gouache, was known for its smooth flow, thick texture, and perfect adhesion to the acetate animation cels. The ink and paint lab was half chemistry, half artistry, 100% magic.
