orangutans are fond of playing with otters: During COVID when ZOOs were closed, caretakers noticed that orangs were getting depressed and bored without visitors. So they gave them a pack of otters - and it worked little too well since otters never suffer from exhaustion.

Really? Gorillas are famous for having other small species as "pets." They seem especially fond of cats.

Even in the wild this happens. A lioness adopted a fawn. Elk adopted a donkey. Wolves adopted a husky. It’s endless.

I mean if you're a little deer thing it kinda makes sense to cozy up with a giant scary gorilla
