I don’t drink anymore (since December) — but I didn’t have a problem, just decided it wasn’t healthy. But I have found there’s a bit of a social stigma with people who don’t drink…agree?

I feel sorry for ppl that don’t drink, because when they wake up in the morning that is as good as they will feel all day! -Sinatra

I rarely drink just because it’s expensive and I’m adicted to Diet Coke instead. I’ve never given a thought of someone doesn’t want to drink. Not my business what others choose to do for whatever reason they have.

It's funny how when you quit drinking you notice how much drinking is parallel with societal norms. It's freaking everywhere and entirely acceptable in any event or occasion, almost praised.

Colin, as you know, I had a problem back in early 2000’s and I don’t drink and nor take any types of medicine anymore. I get the same looks you described when I said I just want water or iced tea. It’s weird.

I agree! I don’t drink either and there’s definitely a stigma that surrounds it. Social exclusion, assumptions of past problems, pressure to conform, etc

Only when you tell everyone who will listen that you don’t drink. Nobody cares

I drink maybe 6 beers a year. If I’m at a place/event that has drinking, holding a beer gets me way less hassle. Even if I do t drink it. Otherwise, I have to hear everybody tell me how they don’t have a drinking problem - even I don’t say a word.

I agree. I don’t drink for personal reasons as well, and I am not an alcoholic at all, but yeah, you are kind of looked at sided eyed sometimes when you don’t order alcohol, especially at a restaurant
