I don't have a GameCube yet, but I do have a Wii!!

you can play gamecube games on wii and the wii has ports for gamecube controllers

If your Wii has a a GameCube port for controls you actually can skip the GameCube (I mean you can get it for decoration/completion sake, but the Wii is like 99% backwards compatible with the GameCube)
