just make sure you use lava from a lava pool or just mine natural obsidian. preferably just mine natrual obsidian. that portal building tech is for speedrunners anyways...

You can only make obsidian with a stationary lava source. So any source of lava you make by hand won’t count. You have to mine somewhere to find a lava source.

As a kind person I will help you :D. There are two ways: mix lava with water (if you get a stone, mix water with lava) you should get obsidian, then extract it with a diamond pick. Next, build a 4x5 portal from obsidian and light it with a lighter. The second way... I forgot 3:

Need lava source block tile and water source. If it's on passive lava it won't make obsidian and will make cobblestone instead. You can make infinite lava source blocks with 4 lava buckets. You'll know it's correct when it's level not dipping.

That is the wrong rock. You need the dark purple/black one. To get that rock, you either gotta find them in a cave randomly and mine them with a diamond pickaxe or you put a lava source next to a water source. Also the portal is 4 blocks high and 4 blocks wide.

at this point just get a diamond pick, toss water in a lava lake and get 12 obsidian
