The Celestial Dragon Punch by Naoki Tate was directly inspired by this sequence by Hisashi Mori from this movie, ever since this cut many animators took inspiration from it and it’s called the "Hisashi Punch"

If you really think about it, Baron Omatsuri is an evil counterpart to Brook. Both lost their entire crew. But unlike Omatsuri, Brook DID overcome the pain of losing his old friends and made new ones with the Straw Hats.

he’s awful and what he did to his deas crew and luffys crew is awful but i can’t help but see the tragedy in it all for him - love his character

Imagine watching this then seeing the Sabaody Tragedy unfold a few years later Omatsuri feels like a great cautionary tale for the rabbit hole Luffy could have fallen into A side of the story we'll never get to see but definitely worth thinking about

It’s such a beautifully tragic tale of someone who couldn’t get over his grief and went mad because of it

Btw, this is the only time in the whole franchise Luffy actually KILLS the villain.
