I don’t know where the dance world would be without Judith Jamison. Alvin Ailey made “Cry” specially for her & all Black Women. Her legacy & what she brought to the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater as a dancer & director changed culture as we know it.

Oh, the gorgeousness of this. ♥️

Yes I was lucky enough to see her perform many times. I even studied at the original location of the Alvin Ailey school. She’s left a legacy behind for us to remember and follow. #RestInPeace #JudithJamison #AlvinAiley 💃🩰🙏💜

A trail blazer. ❤️

That was a beautiful gift for a saturday night. Thank you.

As a child I saw Judith Jamison dance and that was the 1st time I had seen anyone who looked like me dance like that. I fell in love with her and the Alvin Ailey dancers that day. Thank you Judith! You changed my world!

I was fortunate enough see Ms. Jamison dance at Lincoln Center when I was a college student in the early 70’s. Cry is astounding. Revelations is burned into my brain.
