I don't think any DC reporter in recent memory has been this focused on validating whisper campaigns against a single Democratic leader. One could argue he's just trying to break news (i.e. his job), but his frustration & dissatisfaction w/ their responses is palpable.

"I think that he don't care what nobody thinks, I think as long as he's happy w/ himself, not saying he don't pay attention to what his fans are saying but I think it comes from within, before he can make anyone else happy, he has to make himself happy. BOLTON: I don't think we're close on Patriot licenses for Ukraine as we hoped. This is a reflection of Trump. On one day, he sounds favorable to Ukraine. Just wait a couple of days, you'll get a different reaction. I don't think it reflects any kind of strategic reassessment inside the White House. I think this is just Trump. He has a short attention span. I understand that it's very frustrating, but you can look at his behavior. Whether it's Ukraine or war with Iran, where he's been threatening military action, then going for negotiation, then going back to threatening military action, with no pattern. And now, suddenly, 18 months into his term, Trump remembered that North Korea existed and ordered joint US-South Korean exercises curtailed. His positions are always variable, none of them are based on coherent strategy he's trying to implement. It's just a matter of how he feels at any given time. Trump made the same mistake in his first term with it, too.
