What is the tradeoff? There must be a tradeoff? Otherwise why not just have existing browsers render in an implicit canvas?

Render perf I think. You can certainly overwhelm it and cause slow paints and crashed tabs. This demo was at 2-3fps in 2d canvas because it’s pixel based. Moved it to webgl and a shader and its butter.
