I don't understand CPC X these days going off about "Carney getting owned by Trump" or the idiocy of "eLbOwS uP" Pierre's policies were IDENTICAL to Carney's on trade. Only difference was the slogan.

… Poilievre jumping into the trade issue with his elbows up was the last of my trust and respect for Poilievre. … It was the perfect opportunity to take the high road of conservative principles, free trade, and friendship. Instead he betrayed all.

They’re still the same. Poilievre’s X posts are the same as Carney’s. Pathetic

The fact that the CPC are so dimwitted that they had Poilievre lose in his own riding tells you everything you need to know about politics in Canada. We're on this chaos train whether we like it or not. Now he'll do everything possible to undermine Alberta sovereignty

The difference is that @PierrePoilievre would have navigated effectively.

Perhaps, it is partly because the "elbows up" narrative was perceived by its supporters to create an illusion of resistance and superiority. It has proven to be what it was - a logical fallacy disguised as 5D-chess strategy to deal with the "orange man bad" fueling the TDS narrative. Personally, I can understand the rationale for the said posts.

From 'elbows up' to starstruck: Carney gushes over Trump at G7 This flip-flop isn't just embarrassing—it's revealing. Carney didn't change his mind on Trump. He changed audiences. Liberal leader Mark Carney has humiliated himself—and every progressive who voted for him—by swooning over Donald Trump at the G7 Summit in Alberta, despite campaigning on a tough, "elbows up" stance against the U.S. President. Carney's election campaign played heavily to anti-Trump sentiment, telling voters that Canada's relationship with America — particularly under Trump — was over as we knew it. He vowed to chart a new course, free from the influence of "Trumpism," and to stand firm against what he described as a dangerous, destabilizing force in global politics. But when Donald Trump arrived in Banff for the G7, all that posturing melted into an embarrassing puddle. In front of cameras, Carney fawned over Trump like Justin Trudeau at a Taylor Swift concert. Gone were the elbows, the icy diplomacy, and the campaign rhetoric. In their place? Open admiration and photo-op diplomacy. Footage from the summit shows Carney standing silently as Trump mocked past Canadian decisions—including the expulsion of Russia from the G8—while praising his own leadership. Carney offered no defence, no correction, and certainly no "elbows." If Liberal voters thought they were electing a principled anti-Trump statesman, they should feel deeply misled. What they got instead was a man who folded at the first flash of American power, happy to bask in the moment and posture for the cameras. This flip-flop isn't just embarrassing—it's revealing. Carney didn't change his mind on Trump. He changed audiences. At our team is here on the ground in Alberta, covering the summit the way the legacy media won't. And this moment—this cringe-worthy capitulation by a man who claimed he'd stand tall against Trump—is the defining image of Carney's leadership. He ran on "elbows up." He delivered knees bent.
