I'm from Ireland and when I explain our education and Healthcare system to Americans I get "see why can't ours be like that" but when a Democrat tries to introduce something similar it's communism.

That’s the thing. It’s never, EVER, been about policies.

I chalk it up to a colossal failure not only of the fifth estate, but of our education system. A lack of civics and government classes combined with a focus on test taking instead of critical thinking has created a population with no civic engagement or knowledge. And they vote.
