LuPone’s voice is very abrasive so it might have sounded like she peaked the mic but other characters have been 100x louder and didn’t peak the mic

That’s not reverberation, that is cutoff from the peaking of a microphone

I know Aivi & Surasshu and apparently the episode was just exported, aired & leaked with a really bad audio coding that since it was leaked became the predominant online version of the song... they were very upset at it because in fact the real comp doesn't have the peak audio.

Oh they've kept the TV version for all streaming. They were hoping they would get to correct it for subsequent airings or for streaming but they didn't let them. I think the most they could do was lower the noise of the diamonds walking because it was LOUDER than the song...

At around 0:17? I'm sorry, but I can't hear any peaking or cutoff. It simply sounds like she says the word "Yes" quickly, but that's all. Are you *certain* the mic peaked? I'm not trying to gaslight you or anything, but I just don't hear an audio fault.

When she says the YES, the audio has some subtle but clear cutoff (reduction in sound quality due to it being too loud to capture), meaning that it peaked

Idk, feels natural to me especially since she is singing about pink who’s dead, am sure it’s hard to sing perfectly when you start thinking about a passed loved one while also comforting someone who’s also grieving

Because it sounds good with it peaking, it was a choice rather then a mistake.

in one of the songs in the movie (the one where amethyst sings along with steven when she starts becoming normal again) she peaks the mic there and it drives me fucking crazy LOL

My guess is it would either be too expensive to do another take (This is Cartoon Network after all, we don't wanna go over-budget) or repeat performances just weren't as good and/or masking it with Greg's fall made more sense from a production standpoint.
