I don’t usually talk publicly about being a hearing-aid user. However, when both I & the public were unable to hear in the Council Chamber I had to speak up. Incredibly disappointed with the Labour Chair’s response. No one should be excluded from debate because of hearing loss👇

You asked for a reasonable adjustment, gave him information that you had a disability and he ought to have taken into account the equality act. It’s the most obvious discrimination

Watching Taehyung’s live with JK yesterday and hearing him talk about losing hearing in one ear made me pause the video for a moment. It hit me harder than I expected. I’ve been living with hearing loss since grade school, but I only recently had it properly checked. My test showed normal hearing in my right ear but profound hearing loss in my left. Being in my 30s and having to accept something like that has honestly been difficult. People often think that if you can still hear with one ear, you’re okay. But there are so many little things you suddenly have to think about. I always make sure I’m seated with people on my right. I can only comfortably answer the phone with my right ear. Regular earphones can be frustrating because I need the vocals or important sounds to reach my right ear. I can’t properly tell where a sound is coming from because everything feels like it’s coming from my right. And these are things I never used to think about. Now they’re just part of everyday life. That’s why when Taehyung casually mentioned his hearing during the live, my heart sank a little. He may have talked about it so nonchalantly but hearing loss can be really difficult to accept and adjust to. I know that because I’m going through it myself. I would never assume that what I experience is exactly what Taehyung is going through. I just hope he knows that there are people who understand how scary and frustrating it can be when something you’ve always taken for granted suddenly changes. My doctor hasn’t recommended a hearing aid for me yet, and I’m hoping my right ear stays healthy for a very, very long time. But hearing Taehyung talk about his own hearing made me realize all over again how much I want him to get the care and support he needs. Taehyung, I hope this is something treatable and that your hearing improves. More than anything, I hope you’re getting the care you need and that things get better for you. Please take care of yourself. We’re all hoping and praying for you.

It proved several bits of our evidence that we've been conducting throughout this investigation. “But there were also some contradictory statements that I think need further review. “So, this impeachment inquiry will now go to the next phase, which will be a public hearing. “And that's something that I think everyone in the media has been asking a lot of questions about, something that I know that Mr. Biden and his attorney both demanded. “Just as I said when we said we were going to do the deposition first, we will have a public hearing next. “So, I think that the public hearing hopefully will clear up some discrepancies between some of the statements that were made between some of the associates and what we heard today. “I look forward to releasing the transcript as soon as both sides agree to that. “Hopefully that'll be within the next two or three days.”
