I started supporting Villa for similar reasons in that I didn’t want to support my mates team like arsenal so Aston Villa alphabetically next!
As a young 🇨🇦 kid growing up in the 70s/80s, there was no coverage of EPL games. But a late night radio sports DJ would always go over the scores of the weekend. He was a fan of Villa, so that's how I became one.
