I found an old screen recording from my iPhone 11 Pro Max with iOS 17 Decided to compare the animations to my iPhone 17 with iOS 27, and I have so many thoughts 😭 Overall, iOS 17 is INFINITELY smoother than iOS 27, purely due to its animation speed....

I’m just gonna say it: I’m disappointed with iOS 27. - It is fast, sure. - It is snappy too. - It fixes many bugs that were there since iOS 26. - It improves Liquid Glass drastically. The problem is, when I heard at WWDC26 that Apple is making iOS 27 all about optimization and polish, I was expecting iOS to return to its former glory of iOS 15. But, iOS 27 is not even 70% polished as iOS 15 was. There’s so many little things and attention to details that iOS 15 had and iOS 27 simply doesn’t. Here’s a few examples: - When you picked up a call before the contact poster update in iOS 17, using the swipe gesture, the swipe indicator itself transitions into the red hang-up button. Smoothly. On iOS 27, there’s no such transition. It just happens. - On iOS 27, the Photos app is still very slow and janky in the Collections tab. It takes several seconds for everything to load. - Just look at the Safari below. It’s just so smooth, flowy, and animations are designed so well before the Liquid Glass update. iOS 27 Safari feels like a huge downgrade. I was expecting iOS 27 to work on these little details around the system that have been going away since iOS 16. But it didn’t.

🚨 Apple it’s DONE bro My 1.3L iPhone 17 Pro is literally fighting for its life on iOS 27 with Clear or Tinted icons Did Apple actually engineer this shit or did the developers just wake up one morning and ship whatever garbage was on their screen 🤡🤡

🤯I’m about to blow your mind🤯 I have ruined so many of my and my wife’s clothes by washing them incorrectly. iOS 17 will now tell you what those hieroglyphics on your clothes’ tag mean 😂 1️⃣ take a picture of the tag 2️⃣ press the info button on the bottom of the photo in your gallery 3️⃣ iOS 17 will recognize the icons and tell you what each one means 🤯 😮‍💨 Another example as to how iOS just makes your life so easy. Let me know if this is something you are going to use!

First, let me clarify: This test has nothing to do with system animations—it measures app response speed, which is one of the most critical factors in determining whether an OS feels "fast." If you're not particularly interested in animations and don't consider them a priority, then touch responsiveness is arguably the single most important aspect of an operating system. In my comparison between One UI 7 and iOS 18.5, Samsung's response was slightly faster. But with One UI 8, the difference becomes staggering—it's now significantly quicker than iOS. The truth is, iOS has already lost its edge, but due to information asymmetry, many followers still believe it reigns supreme. Now, I'm looking to iOS 19 to see if Apple can reclaim some of its former glory.

How is Apple Music *for Mac* still so…terrible? I just wanted to play a song. It started doing this. I can't play anything. I love the Music app on iOS, but damn, it's still so buggy and slow on desktop 😕

A redesign of profile pages is underway for X on iOS 🔥 I like that they decided to use icons, and that some tabs were merged, such as: Post/Highlight and Videos/Photos. With this, we will have a more user-friendly interface IMO!

Since a recent firmware included components for a virtual iPhone, I decided to see if I could boot one up. This is a virtualized iPhone 16 running iOS 26.2. Don't get too excited, as this required a lot of IPSW patches and SpringBoard crashes when I swipe up in the setup screen.

iOS 27 Beta 3 impressions after 12 hours: - Siri is MUCH faster now - Animations are a lot of smoother across the system - The wallpaper cutout animation when swiping down on the Notification Center is amazing - Siri gets a new glow animation - Clear icons look much better without the ugly black borders - Wi-Fi and 5G status is shown together now - One-tap paste shortcut in keyboard has a visual bug

Almost Off the Waitlist Hopefully🤞…My indexing is finally done… just waiting on Apple to hit the button from the servers 🤔👍 Most of the features are working.. even a partial of the New Siri AI … and When I asked the new siri ai something it actually does the request but not in the dynamic Island… It still has the same glow around the screen like an iOS 26 so still partial.. so I asked her to pull up my last conversation from iMessage and it did it, not like the old Siri that says I’m sorry I don’t know how to do that!

Based on the WWDC 2026 leaks, I tried to recreate the iOS 27 revamped Siri interaction inside the Dynamic Island in swift ui with lots of different settings and some custom shaders. And yeah, if it’s like that, it will be kinda boring going from a rainbow like ui to a monochrome one.

80% of building mobile apps is making sure your trays are smooth. i've been working on an app that lets you display events in countdown widgets on iOS. many others like this, but i did not like the UX or their widget design so i made something that blends in well with your home screen. 📲 public testflight dropping soon. hit me up for early access. and yes, this is react native ⚛︎

Working on a “Hand-Off to Mac” way to load the chats from the Codex Remote Control for iOS app to the Codex App Codex app-server doesn’t quite support a live update So I decided to find a workaround A button that forces the closing of the Codex App and reopening it in the chat created from iPhone Would you use this button?

He is right, Gone are the days of vibe coded slop the apps you can now 1 shot inside of Rork are truly game changing. They integrate to any IOS native feature including AR. And they look professionally made I built this push-up tracker for myself With literally 1 prompt The future of apps looks bright

Apple TV Remote is about to get a lot more useful. iOS 27 RC introduces a refreshed design and two new features, both currently hidden behind feature flags: 1. An app launcher to open apps on your Apple TV. 2. Top Shelf content from the selected app on your Apple TV, with Continue Watching as a fallback.

i completely forgot about my ios app and started making $1k a day all with slideshows 😭 if i had to start from zero, this is exactly what i'd do: - understand my niche on a psychological level - know the exact lifestyle they live or wish they lived - hunt the made-for-fun formats already going viral with nothing to sell - build the app to fit a format, never the other way around - obsess over the copy and the pacing, then run it across accounts the game has genuinely never been easier no ugc, no ads, just slideshows 😌

The gold standard fluid interactions on iOS are built using in-process client animations (like SwiftUI does it) and not render-server animations (like CoreAnimation does it). This is common knowledge inside of Apple’s UI framework and system experience teams. A close inspection of iOS’s evolution reveals the gradual upgrading of system experiences written using render-server animations (that often disable user interaction) with ones using client animations (that are interruptible and interactive). The app switcher for iPhone X, the Dynamic Island, and Liquid Glass bars are prime examples of this trend. The other thing that makes these experiences feel so fluid is their use of spring animations that preserve velocity, rather than Bézier curve easing functions. To get velocity preservation, you need to be able to interrupt a spring animation and retarget it or drive it with a gesture. That’s a lot easier to do when the animation is running in the same process as the event handling. When we were first pitching SwiftUI, two of our go-to demos were a recreation of the iOS 9 navigation and Home Screen interactions which were fully interactive and interruptible, at a time when the actual implementations of those experiences in the OS disabled user interaction and ran server-side animations. CoreAnimation is great and the framework does much more than animation. You can build a fine app using its server-side animations. But if your UI framework can’t do efficient main thread client animations, there’s a ceiling to the quality of the experience your app can provide.

Look no further than the Weather app on macOS to see how Apple has lost its way on quality. Highlight colors missing, dividers disappearing, labels jumping around, animations feeling jerky, clicks not registering. I suspect that the macOS version is just a quick port of the iOS app (which is still good), but a team that obsesses about quality doesn't ship stuff like this.

Wanted to share in a direct post this wallpaper i found thanks to an oomf comment, lowkey pretty peak (my only complaint being that the bg is M0 instead of M3 which i prefer and that the "light" doesnt go fully to the bottom, but other than that, its sooo good)
