I always despised this line. It was almost certainly a producer or executive note. Yes, I've been watching the movie, I know its holy water. This one line was crowbarred in because some executive was too stupid and thought the audience would be just as dumb.

well in context of the relationship they supposedly had before those scenes were cut it reads as "holy water, really?" like shes upset and annoyed that John would use that on her

There were a few deleted scenes that fleshed her character out more. It showed them in bed together, and you could see she had a tail under the sheets. At the end of this shootout she is found hiding under a table and he lets her go.

My favorite thing about the movie other than the holy brass knuckles and stormare as the devil is when Chas has the line “it’s not like the books”. It’s kind of a meta fuck you to the people who don’t like that he’s not British not blonde and doesn’t smoke

This was the start of a career with Monaghan getting the short end of the stick, often being stuck in thankless roles when she deserved better or getting cut out of movies. I hope they bring her back for the Constantine sequel
