I had “Nevermind” (Released 35 years ago today) on cassette when I was 12 years old, and I listened to it multiple times while on a family roadtrip from Orange County, CA to Chicago, IL. Nirvana Drain You MTV Studios, NYC 1-10-1992

I saw Nirvana at the Palace in Hollywood one month after Nevermind was released. It was the same evening that game 7 of the World Series was played. Still one of the most memorable concerts ever for me.

I always forget how young you are! I saw them play at Maxwells in ‘89 supporting “Bleach” and I was 25. My god I’m old!!!

I was at a party in law school lol the first time I heard and was like WTF IS THAT !

This is the song that completely flipped my lid on Nirvana. I was very young during this time, mind you. I was adamant about Pearl Jam. Then I heard this and I couldn’t believe it.

No doubt! I had just started college and had a weedhead friend telling me all the time "dude...this is the GREATEST" and...because of that...purposefully did NOT listen. But of course you couldn't escape it at the time and of course I fell in love with it like everyone else.

My mom got me the Nevermind CD at Sears, a few months after it was released. I was 11 years old and I remember it vividly because it was the last CD I got that came in one of those long boxes. I still have the CD, minus the long box.

Which route did you guys take to Chicago from Orange County?

I can’t remember some hwys because I was 12, but we started on 15N since Vegas was our 1st stop, passed thru UT, CO, NE, stopped at Mt. Rushmore and a Corn Palace in SD, passed thru IA, and stayed at relatives home in a suburban area of Chicago. Went to the top of Sears tower 🌇

I was 14, my grandma actually got me the tape. It absolutely blew me away. Looking back, it’s amazing how much popular music changed after this album was released. They just sounded so different, every thing about them was different. And the music rocked!
