Well I'm a boomer, a term I hate by the way, and I also did most of those things. I never hitched hiked though. I would babysit at 9 years old if that counts as a job. It helps to live in a small town where you know everyone I think. I never worried about going into the woods alone or down to the creek to get tadpoles. It was a great childhood. My Mom didn't work and I think that makes a difference for children.

@WifeOfCombatVet When I was a kid I’d ride in the back of the truck from Birmingham to Atlanta. When we took the car, I’d sleep in the back window of our Plymouth Fury. Stay gone till bedtime in the woods without a worry in world.
