I hadn’t programmed for about 35 years, and back when I did program, it was stuff like “10 PRINT ‘HELLO’ 20 GO TO 10,” or maybe a database in FoxPro in high school, and fooling around in assembler on a Zilog Z80 when I was trying to translate *Tir...

It's quite funny to hear about successful game developer refer to himself as programming illiterate. I suppose in the minds of many of us we just assume all game devs can code, but when you really think about it, there's many positions that don't need to

But I have magical skill called "coder bullshit detector", because I understand the principles and do have some tech skills unlike many other designers and artists :)

This is basically what's awesome about AI. Before, when I wanted a tool to make my work easier, I'd think about how much extra work it'd take and just do it manually. Now? I can point AI at it, and after a few hours and debug sessions, I have a tool I can use forever.

Great result. One habit that pays off around version 9: commit every working build to git before the next round of changes. When the AI breaks something that used to work, you diff against the last good version instead of arguing about what changed. A short notes file of what you've already tried for the dock helps too, since the model forgets between sessions.

Now you can code a small game all by yourself😀.

⭐️: You’re asking if I have any worries these days? Well… there is something. Anyway, a lot of people have come to recognize us now, and I think things have gone really well for us. But I do have some personal concerns. Now that everything has gone so well, I do find myself wondering, “Just how much of a person am I, really?” Of course, Ateez has done really well, but when it comes to things like the members’ individual recognition—I don’t know what to call it, recognition, I guess—I do think about how I can make up for that on my end. What do I need to work harder at so that all of us can look good together? I do think about things like that. Anyway, we’ve been through everything together for eight years, but even then, everyone’s pace is different. So the healthy way I think about it is, “What can I do here? What can I do right now?” Once I’ve done everything I can, I think the rest is out of my hands So I really believe in the saying “jininsa daechonmyeong”: Do everything you can, and leave the rest to fate. I really believe in that and live by it. There was a time like that, too. There was a day when I felt really down. I think it was about three years ago. And even then, I thought the same thing: “Don’t get frustrated here. Just do what I can do right now, what’s right in front of me.” So I kept doing what I could, like working out, and I didn’t let go of that dream. I just kept doing what I was supposed to do. Then, less than a month later, a really good opportunity came to me. So I thought, “If I don’t give up and I keep doing my best, good opportunities really do come naturally. Opportunities come to people who are prepared.” And now Ateez is doing well again, and there are members who are seeing even more of the spotlight. I’m also receiving a lot of love, but when I think about it in terms of being recognized by the general public, I still think, “What is there that I can do here?” Honestly, there isn’t that much we can do. We just work hard at dancing and singing, work hard at filming, take care of our bodies, eat well, sleep well, and communicate with our fans often. That’s about it. There are probably a lot of schedules and things like that that people don’t see, but I think that if I just work hard at the things I can do, maybe I’ll be able to do well again, and maybe there’ll be even better results. The ironic thing is, that’s how I think about it these days. In the past, if you wanted to become famous, you would go on TV, do shoots, film things, do photo shoots, things like that. But these days, and I feel a little cautious saying this, you have to already be famous to be able to go on those shows. Anyway, those people also care about the results, so I completely understand it. And we’re not a huge company, either. So it’s not like we can just get ourselves placed on those shows. Was that too honest? We want to go on them. But even if we say, “We want to go on, please let us go on,” it doesn’t mean that’s enough to make it happen. So I think it’s a pretty difficult situation. Still, because we’ve done well, there are now members who can go on better programs than before. And then, within that, I find myself thinking about these things again. But I think I’m doing well. I think I’ve done well up until now, and I’ll continue to do well going forward. So I trust myself. So I wouldn’t really call it a worry. Maybe I should call it a worry where the answer is already there. The answer is already decided, so I’m not worried about it, but it is still something I think about. You know how they say, “A slight difference in wording can make a big difference”? It’s kind of like that.

On this day, 52 years ago, John Cassavetes' "The Ki!!ing of a Chinese Bookie" (1974) was released in the USA. John Cassavetes explaining why he made the movie: "'A Woman Under the Influence' (1974) was the first picture I’ve had anything to do with that wasn’t made out of plain, simple feeling, but rather out of a real desire to do something in my profession. It was extremely frightening for me not to come to work out of enthusiasm and instead put myself up as something of a craftsman. Earlier films such as 'Shadows' (1958) and 'Husbands' (1970) grew out of personal experiences reaching all the way back to my childhood days. They were expressions of my innermost feelings, and now that I’ve dealt with all that, I feel obligated to view life in other terms. I want to explore other areas of human and artistic experience. I made 'The Ki!!ing of a Chinese Bookie' (1976) as an intellectual experiment– not because I am in love with it. I enjoy a more intellectual and less emotionally demanding view than in my previous work. If I can make, out of certain intellectual ideas, films that are complex in their nature, then I’m entering into new ground. And that is certainly something I look forward to. It is a film that has little to do with me and with how I feel about life. It’s interesting to me to see how other people live in our society, to look at them and ask myself, ‘Why do they do it? And how do they do it?’ Without trying to explain. The fun and challenge of the film was to imagine a self-contained world different from the one I live in: to move into it and live in it." [🫧] 260308 Hongjoong - ‘👋’, TOKTOQ pop live from Sydney, p.2: 🐿 About doing the morning broadcast with Seonghwa? (morning shows in Australia) Right, so it ended up being the two of us doing it together, and honestly speaking about studying English? I’m not really studying it super deeply and consistently, but whenever I have time I try to do it in various ways. I also practice conversation with a teacher and things like that. Actually, it feels different from that and from listening to the anchors during a live broadcast. Listening to announcers speak is different, so rather than being nervous, I actually went into it in a state of intense focus. So that’s how I approached it. 🐿️ Actually, Seonghwa is also usually really good at English, but since normally the two of us, as the eldest representatives, were the ones going out there, things that came to mind might suddenly not come to mind in that moment. When that happens, honestly it’s the same for both me and Seonghwa. Before going in we practiced quite a lot. For this question - how should I call it? - we prepared expected questions, like predicted questions, and went in with those prepared. Some things came out within the range of those expected questions, and there were also modified ones, so I just handled those kind of freestyle. Seonghwa also prepared a lot. 🐿 Actually, this is how I see it. Since English isn’t our native language either, we can be inexperienced, but what I want is to show that we’re gradually improving, even if it’s just little by little. And honestly, even if we can’t do it one hundred percent, as long as the meaning is conveyed, people understand it. Before, I used to think that while having confidence was important, I also had a strong desire to not make mistakes and to deliver everything perfectly. But now I think it’s better not to hold back and just speak, though I try to be careful about situations where it could be mistranslated. So that’s how it is with English for me. I think it’s kind of like this: even if you’ve been promoting for a long time, when you use Korean, then Japanese, then English, sometimes it feels like your skill level resets. I plan to keep working at it consistently. That’s something I want to keep putting effort into. Yes, that’s how it is.

Paul Wesley says he and Nina Dobrev got into a blowout fight on set that stopped filming for half an hour “It came down to that and we would butt heads. It’s so funny because people thought we had such great chemistry and we were like the romantic love story on the show and we kept it on the DL because we did a lot of press and we did a lot of stuff, but her and I just notoriously butted heads” “We got into one big blowout fight on set and they were like, okay, everybody take a half hour, and we’re going to pause filming for a minute and everyone’s going to cool off. You know that kind of thing” “And then the irony of the whole situation is that as the show grew in success and as I became more comfortable in my role and just as a human being too - I had never dealt with fame and I didn’t understand it, frankly I didn’t like it. It’s like I liked it but I also hated it and it really affected me and I probably wasn’t the easiest person to work with at the time” “And the irony is that now we’re such good friends. Once we stepped away from the show and even later, like in later seasons, we just became buddies. And it’s just like this funny thing because her and I are like actual bros now and we get along so well and we always talk about it. Let’s do something together. Let’s do a movie together. And we actually had a few things we were dabbling with maybe doing something together” Penn Badgley: “I’m pretty sure if you did it would break the internet”

FNC Boaster: “These events are, as you can probably imagine, quite tiring. We go from the upper bracket into three games in a row for the final days. That, on top of lots of media, lots of features, lots of just random stuff that we do. Not to mention the fact that when we go into our games, there’s a lot of adrenaline. After every game, my body aches and my head hurts, and then we have to somehow get to sleep, and then we’ve got to wake up early and stuff. So there’s loads of factors into this. It’s not just simply, you go in and you play. And I think we started slow today, especially on Corrode and Lotus. A big map was Lotus for us, and we weren’t able to, just everything wasn’t going our way. The Odin was completely annihilating us. Then when we got to Abyss, we were like, ‘This is the last chance.’ And I felt very confident that we could win this one, because I felt like I knew everything they did on the attack side. And then, what were we like 1–11 down or something? I was like, ‘Oh bloody hell, this one’s going to be a tough one, isn’t it?’ We managed to do it, and then I was like, ‘Holy guacamole, the dream is alive!’ And it felt amazing, hearing the crowd and being able to just do that, because it would’ve been so disappointing of a final to just bomb out there. But in the FNATIC way, we fight back. Ascent, we’re starting to feel the kind of momentum. And then it gets to Sunset, a map that was the one kind of perma-ban we had, but we had some stuff on it. Unfortunately, it was just the crucial map for us to get the win, and some of the rounds just didn’t go our way, and that’s how VALORANT goes, you know. It felt like the rounds that we needed to win, we lost, and then they had an ultimate the next round, and that’s how brutal it is on defense. If we had just been able to win one of those rounds, like the bonus round, holy guacamole, we would’ve been loving life. And it was the difference of like a 1v1 in the end. So yeah, I mean, we tried our best. That’s why I’m not that [sad]. I am sad, obviously, but I’m not like how I was in Toronto, because I felt like we pushed, we tried our best, and I’m very happy with the boys. It would’ve been nice to win, but there’s only one winner, so it’s just a blessing to compete instead.” #VALORANTChampions via Pedro Romero

✨ A dream I had finally came true: I can now chat directly with my sites to build any feature or fix any bug just via Telegram I've been playing with OpenClaw for 3 weeks now and it's great but I was always too scared to run it on any production server And I was right a bit as Marc Köhlbrugge was able to hack it by social engineering and acting as if it was me, and with enough tries it believed him, and was able to modify the server, change SSH keys etc. of course I had it isolated properly on its own VPS and it didn't touch anything sensitive (as it should!) Marc then reported that bug to Peter Steinberger 🦞 who patched it fast But I wanted to try something more basic and simple, and I think maybe more secure: to just connect Claude Code on my server to Telegram which would be hard locked to only messages from me So I installed claude-code-telegram by Richard Atkinson on the server and run it as a system daemon and it works really well The cool thing is that I was already using Telegram for server errors like this: > Photo AI - ❌ Random credits giveaway failed (Attempt 30/30) with an exception: SQLSTATE[HY000]: General error: 5 database is locked So now I can just reply, "Ok fix this", and Claude Code on the server in production will try (and probably succeed) in fixing it In the video below I asked it to make show [🌳 Parks ] on the map by default on load, it did that, then I reloaded the page and it instantly worked One thing it still needs is sending actual messages while it's doing stuff which OpenClaw does really well, it's annoying to just wait while it says "Working..." but that's probably next

"'Caddyshack' (1980) was a little disappointing when it came out and now it's just a miraculous irony that people have continued to embrace the film and love it." --- Harold Ramis Full Excerpt: "The fact that people are still watching 'Caddyshack' (1980) & showing it to their kids, their grandchildren and still talking about it amazes me because when the movie came out, we actually were a little disappointed because Doug Kenney and I had just done 'Animal House' (1978) and we were so arrogant at the time as we were writing 'Animal House' with Chris Miller. We would actually think to ourselves that it would be the most successful comedy of all time; which it turned out to be . It was like a grandiose delusion that was turned real on us. So then we thought well now we'll do 'Caddyshack' & that it will be the most successful comedy ever. we will do better than 'Animal House' and it didn't. It did half as well and a lot of critics scorned us. The New York Times called it an "amiable mess" which I kind of liked. I thought "all right I'll take amiable and the mess I can live with." So, it was a little disappointing when it came out and now it's just a miraculous irony that people have continued to embrace the film and love it. I once recognized the strange fact that when people used to read TV Guide and they would rate movies. 'Caddyshack' was a two-star movie for the first 10 years. Then at some point I noticed that it got a third star in the same publication and I thought "maybe it's like wine, the longer you keep it in, it just gets a little better."" (Harold Ramis' interview to AFI, 2009)

Joe Thomas says he cried after playing a perfect game in a 30 point loss to Tom Brady and realized he had spent 10 years fooling himself into believing the Browns were a Super Bowl team before each season “The way I entered every season was like, if I need to get the most out of myself, I’ve got to convince myself this is a Super Bowl roster. That’s the mentality I have to have when I’m training, when I’m practicing, when I’m going through film study. And so you trick yourself every year, but after a while, you’re not that dumb anymore” “Going into year 10, we had traded away the first overall pick. We were trading guys away, saving capital for the future. The writing was on the wall that we were in a pretty significant rebuild. I kind of knew at that time, even though I was still trying to trick myself, in the back of your head you know you’re not going to be any good” “Then, about midway through that 10th season, we were playing the Patriots. Tom Brady comes to town, and I fucking hated Tom Brady, as everybody did in the league. I hated the Patriots. I just wanted to smash him so bad. We lost like 30 to 0. And I remember sitting in the car after the game, and I was just crying. I had ice on both elbows and knees. I was in pain, my wife was driving and I was just looking out the window. It was that moment when I realized I’d been kind of fooling myself for a while, and we were not going to win no matter what I did” “She finally said, ‘Are you okay? Did you have a bad game?’ Then the tears really came because I said, ‘I played a perfect game, and we lost by 30.’ It really sunk in at that moment that you don’t control the situation anymore. That feeling of loss of control is really hard. No matter what situation you’re in in life, it just feels like everything I’m working for, I have no control over the outcome. That’s a bad feeling” “I ended up meeting with the team psychologist and talking to somebody about it because it had been almost 10 years built up to that moment when you come to the realization that I’m kind of fooling myself. We’re not that team and we really don’t have a chance. And I don’t impact this game the way I’d hoped”
