I hadn't realized that Blitz actually starts crying BEFORE the unlovable asshole/wh0r3 remark, and Stolas has absolutely no reaction to it. He's not moved in any way, in fact he doubles down to hurt him further. Very unlike how Blitz reacts as soon as Stolas starts crying.

Realistically, if Stolas cared about how Blitz felt, the argument should've stuttered right here. I dont expect him to react the way Blitz does in the ep when Stolas cries, but any sort of visual indication that he's taken aback by Blitz's emotional hurt would've gone a long way.

It actually might've helped the argument seem more equal, especially if he tried to reach out and Blitz shut him out. Instead, he comes across as completely unfeeling to Blitz's hurt, which is not a good look at all. Especially when he proceeds to make it about himself after.

Not only unfeeling, but callous, the way he sees Blitz start to break and proceeds to insult him about it as well. I don't understand why they would go with this writing choice, if they didn't intend for Stolas to come across as hateable.

I get that Blitz is still insulting him, but if you want the character to be likeable, I think it's imperative that Stolas emotionally reacts to it and doesn't stay impassive. Through this entire argument, Stolas still does not seem to grasp how any of his actions affected Blitz.

The exes comment seems particularly weaponized to attack Blitz's deeper insecurity, even as Blitz showered Stolas with attacks as well, Blitz never goes for the personal deep cuts, even though he could. He could mention Octavia if he wanted, but he doesn't.

I guess it's true that Blitz doesn't immediately stop the attack mode as soon as Stolas cries either, but there are two key differences: 1) Blitz has seen Stolas cry before, Stolas hasn't; 2) Blitz was crying first, so he was already emotional, in full drive.

But he relents as soon as Stolas says "You're right", because of how shocked he is to even hear it. Still, he looks really moved by Stolas's tears afterwards, while Stolas never does. Not even after calming down. It meant pretty much nothing to him.

This is where I realized that the whole Stolitz thing is a situationship where Stolas has only really seen Blitz as something he's fetishized and made into a fantasy. And when Blitz tried to buck back against him in a argument, then Stolas starts being toxic and manipulative

Yeah this is what fucked me up about this scene too. Blitz is truly opening up to Stolas, truly saying how he feels and is truly crying in front of him for the first time since Full Moon. And Stolas's reaction is just some snarky comment, fucking insanity

@BroSam__ The thing is that this was the START of this happening. You could easily convince yourself that it's Stolas being awful, but that the focus is on Blitzø's development for s2 and s3 will force Stolas to change. Now we're at s3 and can see that's not true, and it shatters the hope.

@BroSam__ Stolas being a pos right after the 'breakup' makes technical narrative sense and is a good starting point for him to reflect on and develop later. Stolas consistently being a pos even much later and still clearly being framed as the victim with no self awareness... well.

@BroSam__ FM+AT by itself has some severe framing issues which creates an imbalance between how Stolas and Blitz are handled. Stolas being coddled by the story was evident by the story choices in S2E1 and Mission Zero already, which try to take responsibility off of him and onto Blitz

I empathize with people who ship St0litz. I used to ship st0litz during s1. My art regularly got liked by viv. Eventually, I realized the faults of the writing and the double standards in handling Blitz vs Stolas. It's not a nice thing to come to grips with.

Here a moment where you remember animation isn’t like acting. They added those tears intentionally, and intentionally had Stolas not react.

Yeah I said that in another post. Blitz was crying BEFORE Stolas, and long before that line. He was obviously upset, but Stolas (because the narrative needs this kind of tropey/hallmark argument) never sees it. What is gonna happen is Stolas is gonna turn around and see Blitz crying, and realize his errors--one day. One of those "I never noticed" moments that's gonna feel cheesy and lame. Like I'm betting that's why he KEEPS always arguing with his back to Blitz.

It's like the writers see themselves in Stolas and try to convince you that Stolas behaviors are actually reasonable and blitzø responding like a victim would is just him not being able to open up or whatever even though everything blitzø is mad about is totally reasonable.

They'll have you believe the only reason Stolas hasn't listened to Blitz's feelings yet is because Blitz doesn't ~act mature~ about it as though Stolas doesn't proceed to immediately ignore Blitz's feelings the moment Blitz isn't yelling about them.

And honestly Stolas has absolutely no excuse to have treated Blitz the way he has with the complete lack of communication on his part, considering he knows how Blitz feels, their history and that Blitz is really trying for them. He does owe him clarity.

Let’s not forget how NASTY Blitz talked to Stolas in that same episode (the full moon)!! Completely misconstruing everything Stolas said to him and ONLY stopped when Stolas started crying. Yes Stolas is acting incredibly selfish and even self destructive right now however Blitz is certainly not innocent
