I hate the way pass interference is officiated. This is why we need full-time refs with proper training. It should not be the case that you can loft an underthrown folly floater and be rewarded because the WR has to slow down to adjust. Happens in every game and... show more

lol not calling this would be damn near as egregious as the saints rams no call

The contact only happens because the ball is badly underthrown. Thats my point!

Wow then it sounds like the defender who was beat should have time to make a play on the ball!

@amicsta Wow it sounds like the QB has enough space to make an accurate throw… if he was any good

@amicsta …ok? Has nothing to do with the clear & obvious penalty

@amicsta His bad throw is why the penalty was committed. I think these type of balls should be treated similarly to an overthrow or “uncatchable” ball

@amicsta

Why didn’t the defender turn around and play the ball since he had so much time on this underthrown floater?

Nah. The defender did not play the ball. You can't reward the defender for not playing the ball.

This is the equivalent of Trae young getting the defender on his back in the paint and jumping backwards into him to get the shooting foul. I agree that it’s bs but idk how to fix it

Common sense officiating. What creates the contact? Is there advantage/disadvantage? Just seems easier to me than people think.

At the very least if they’re going to continue to make these spot fouls they have to make them reviewable. a clear set of rules for each situation wouldn’t hurt either. To back your point maybe the under throw is reviewed and deemed a non foul. They are purposely keeping it blurry

1. Wasn’t under thrown 2. Absolutely pass interference 3. The game should have been over on the bills second snap in OT 4. You’re an idiot

“Badly underthrown” is bullshit. That was a catch if Mimms wasn’t mugged.

Is this the standard of defense you want? Just grab the receiver before the ball gets there?

Bro was already mid-tackle by the time the ball got there lol. Blatant and obvious DPI

A CB, not playing the ball, not looking at the ball, wraps up the receivers arm and tackles him before the ball gets there. In what world is that not a penalty?

These happen because defenders get beat, panic when trying to catch up, and don’t find the ball. If he doesn’t get beat, he likely gets an interception due to the under thrown ball Blaming refs for making an obvious call is disingenuous analysis. It’s poor defense, nothing more

People act like this is the worst under-throw PI call ever. DB got cooked so hard that the ball still hit Mims in the hands over the defender’s head. The bad ones are when the ball hits the back of or the ground behind the defender

This was 1000% PI, defender never even considered looking for the ball and grabbed his arm impeding the catch opportunity. Not sure what you watched:. The previous PI call was a little more dubious, but really didn’t matter because there was roughing the passer on the same play.

Am I the only one that says if you can't take the subjectivity out of it then lessen the severity of the penalty? 10 yards and an automatic first down. Not a 30 yard gain.

You realize he catches the ball without being mugged right? Bills was playing soft down the field and Denver played that advantage. The DB should be playing the ball if it’s such a badly thrown ball 🤡

Bro lol. You expect them not to call this? If the ball is so under thrown the defender should turn around and pick it, instead of tackling the WR before the ball gets there..

1. Hits and wraps him up and pulls his arm down before ball gets there 2. Defender never plays ball 3. He got beat and went and got a textbook flag Great call

@SeanNeutron You can’t be allowed to tackle the WR either

Don't get burned so bad you have to flail and grab the WR's arms to make up for it.

And this is holding for a safety

Yeah…And this wasn’t holding. Lol Get real.

Maybe you can’t tackle/interfere before the ball reaches the receiver…

I’d like to see an “under thrown” ball rule like the “uncatchable” ball rule. Start calling true DPI when they grab arms and wrap arms around the waist, and stop calling this BS move to manipulate the rules by intentionally under throwing it, or by throwing awful passes.

That is the same as saying the DB shouldnt be allowed to play a trail technique and play the WR hands and not the ball.... White never plays the ball and makes contact with the WR and blocks his left arm from making the catch which is clear DPI... this isnt even a debate on this play....

Bills fans will grasp at any excuse they can, they know. 5 turnovers? That had NOTHING to do with them losing, it was only this one, actually correct call they cry about.

The NFL has had full time refs for more than a decade

@SeanNeutron This is the shittiest take I've seen. Blatant PI isn't that hard man. Champ Bailey made a career getting his head back to the ball and picking it off.

Man shut the fuck up this is PI 8 days of the week

Why do you think the defender doesn’t have to play legal defense on an underthrown ball?

@pcdonaldson83 Or a 31 year old corner turns around in coverage

This is such a stupid tweet it’s not even an instance of him coming back through the db to get the ball. All this did was let the db catch up to him, didn’t force him to grab his arm and pull it down early lmao

Dude he tackled the guy are you ok?

Clearly pass interference. You cannot hit the guy before the ball gets there. Period.

I understand your frustration, but better training and full-time refs misses one major point— the call was correct. The defender wasn’t playing the ball. This has been called like this for decades. What you don’t like is not the officiating, but rather the rule itself.

He wasn’t even playing the ball.

If it's underthrown and the DB is tracking the ball, they have the advantage to intercept. Instead the DB was playing the WR and decided to tackle him before the ball even got there.
