@loftwah Damn, sorry to hear man. 😔

@loftwah Thanks

Oh dang, that sucks, I'm sorry to hear you got laid off :/ Best of luck on the next venture!

Thanks

Welp, guess I'll use Stripe Atlas over LegalZoom for my next company registration.

ha ha :D

I was actually considering it, as I wanted to transfer my LLC from Iowa to Michigan.

I actually don't know enough how LZ products compare to competitors :D I know that legalzoom did acquire a bunch of the smaller ones, so it's tricky to find something that is not LZ under the hood :D

I registered a LLC in Delaware on LegalZoom, it was decent, bit pricy, but got a lot of shit out of my way. They are a bit dumb about how things work, like I couldn't register NiftyCo, LLC because it had "co" in the name, and apparently co, company, etc are not illegal but ignored, and they refused to understand that NiftyCo is one word, like Costco, but they still refused. When I transferred it out of Delaware to Iowa for franchise tax reasons, the state was just like "NiftyCo? Yeah we allow that, why wouldn't we?" Atlas was also similar to the state. LegalZoom was the only place where I had to argue that just because CO is an abbreviation of Company, doesn't mean NiftyCo is Nifty Company.

as far as I know this is more on states than on legalzoom :) so by default they will just send your stuff as is to whatever the state organization that handles that and they will get rejected by them and forward that rejection to you

if legalzoom does reject something on their end it's usually just "well it's not allowed in 30 out of 50 states, let's just remove a lookup table to simplify things and just apply the same rule for everyone" :D but I wouldn't know which one is it :)

yeah this was actively being denied on the phone with them when I was talking, they didn't send anything over at all. Originally I thought NiftyCo would be taken so I saved myself some time by saying i wanted to register "A Nifty Company, LLC" as my company name, but they told me "A" and "Company" are invisible and the state would just see "Nifty" and "Nifty LLC" was already taken in delaware. So I said "What about NiftyCo?" and thats when the person I was talking to was absolutely hung up on "co" being short for Company and refused. Ended up going with Nifty Development, and then when I switched to Iowa I got NiftyCo.

Yaro is a great engineer and amazing to work with him!

Thanks Esteban! You too!

how many years of claude code experience do you have?

you know, regular amount :D
@RyanCarniato Sorry to hear that buddy. But before you jump back into the rat race, I think you should reconsider your options because from the looks of things you could just be setting yourself up for the same result. I’ve been meaning to DM you back but I guess this is as good a time as ever

apply at @cognition they have a bunch of jobs open surely you will find something soon.

F, good luck in the search

Thanks

Thanks

Sorry to hear you've been laid off! I hope you'll find some amazing job soon! Good luck!

thanks :)

@SledgeDev Damn, I’m sorry to hear that, I’m sure a dev of your caliber will find something quick! I retweeted for reach!

courage sir, hope you find something soon

@wagslane Btw, a little trick I use as a hiring manager to secretly score candidates is, whether they refer to their previous job as “we”/“us” or “they”.

One of the best engineers I've ever met in my career. Been following your advice since my layoff, and you were right. You have to be visible in order to be seen. It's been hard getting a job, but I don't doubt it'll be easy for you, especially with the content you make.

Thanks, Chris

You are awesome You will definitely find something very soon. Atb🙌

Oh man that sucks. Best of luck out there buddy. ❤️

Thank you

we have a lot of open positions on full stack and backend at Deel, happy to help you with a referral, DM me for more details :)

Having followed you for a while I would happily pass your resume along to my workplace and give you a recommendation aswell, but they would probably expect you to move to Norway, and it seems you are already getting good opportunities from others aswell. Best of luck in any case. I know you will find a new place in no time

Best of luck sir I’ll keep my eyes peeled

@burkeholland Good luck!

Good luck on the search - you seem like an amazing person to work with - so I'm sure you'll land on your feet sooner than later!

Good luck, I’m sure you’ll find something fast!

Sorry to hear that - I'm in a similar situation as well. Do nothing while the initial shock's still there. Take your time to get back into it. You'll thank yourself later :)
