Poilievre sat in Cabinet for nearly a decade under Stephen Harper. During those years: 👉 Food bank use reached record highs for the time. 👉 Housing prices more than doubled nationally. 👉Household debt exploded to among the highest levels in the developed world. 👉Productivity growth lagged behind many peer countries. 👉Canada lost more than 400,000 manufacturing jobs from its peak. So when young people couldn't afford homes then, was that just a technicality? When families were already relying on food banks before Trudeau or Carney, was that just a technicality? When wages failed to keep up with housing costs for years, was that just a technicality? Poilievre talks as if he arrived yesterday. He has been an MP since 2004. He was in government from 2006 to 2015. He wasn't a bystander watching events unfold. He helped make the decisions. And when he finally presented his own economic platform in 2025, ✨️independent estimates projected deficits approaching $100 billion annually, larger than the deficits he condemned. His plan depended heavily on optimistic growth assumptions while leaving many spending reductions unspecified. Accountability cuts both ways. If every economic hardship in 2026 belongs to Mark Carney, then every hardship between 2006 and 2015 belongs partly to Pierre Poilievre. Canadians can debate Carney's record. They should. But the politician who has spent 20+ years in Ottawa doesn't get to campaign as though he's the outsider who just discovered Canada's problems. He helped govern the country for nearly a decade and has spent the rest of his career explaining why none of the results were his responsibility. #cdnpoli
