Since this morning, the State of Israel has been at war. Our first objective is to clear out the hostile forces that infiltrated our territory and restore the security and quiet to the communities that have been attacked. The second objective, at the same time, is to exact an immense price from the enemy, within the Gaza Strip as well. The third objective is to reinforce other fronts so that nobody should mistakenly join this war. We are at war. In war, one needs to be level-headed. I call on all citizens of Israel to unite in order to achieve our highest goal – victory in the war.

When the Army Chief warns that war is looming and that our sons and daughters may be called upon to fight, it should make every citizen stop and think. Many on social media say, “I won’t fight for them.” But this isn’t about politicians, parties, or provocation. This is about our country. This is about our land, our people, our future. I am a Sikh, from a warrior community with a long history of standing against tyranny. We are taught to serve and protect our land, to defend the innocent, and to stand firm when others step back. If my country is threatened, I will stand. If it comes to it, my children and I will defend our nation, because a country that refuses to defend itself ceases to exist. You can oppose governments. You can criticise leaders. But when the nation itself is under threat, walking away is not protest, it’s surrender. Defending your country does not make you a warmonger. It makes you responsible. Without our land, we will be slaves. I am not a traitor. I will not turn my back when my country needs defending. Are you?

Today, I was in Sumy region – one of the directions where a lot is at stake. I personally thanked our warriors and everyone carrying out missions in the Kursk region, defending our state and our Sumy region from the Russians’ unrelenting desire to advance into Ukraine from these directions. I am grateful to all our soldiers and sergeants, to every officer fighting with absolute heroism in these areas. Since August of last year, our units have been fighting on enemy territory—one of Ukraine’s most significant achievements in this war. It is entirely fair to bring the war back to where it came from. We spoke with the commanders of our units in this area – discussed key needs, additional support, equipment supply, drones, operational issues. We are working to defend our positions.
