The aspirations of international school kids or their parents for them may be bigger than all these mentioned informal sector offices and industries. This is failed small town/ city mindset where an inbred perceives the world to revolve around the philosophies, norms and culture of his small community. Just because other people’s contemporaries are working in police, the national hospital or URA doesn’t mean these offices are the hallmark of success. We also need to debunk the myth that every native working abroad on “kyeyo” let alone perceive the diaspora or performing arts workforce as failures.
