I have been saying for weeks that we should implement a 5-10% blanket tariff on all imports. We can then remove tariffs as an incentive system for specific products. Today President Trump announced this exact type of plan with a 10% tariff on most imports.

Tariffs = local corporate tax and are always paid by someone: 1. If the firm has bargain power (wide margins): consumers pay 2. firm doesn't have bargain power: shareholders thru lower share price or labor thru layoffs shareholders are currently paying for unrealized tariffs

Have you ever heard or read about Comparative Advantage and the benefits for both countries in a trade relation to adjust import taxes on specific products (when esch one is better at producing specific ones)?
