What you're saying, @JonRothstein, doesn't make much sense with respect to the search that resulted in Doherty. Majerus and many others outside the family would've loved the job, but they had a strong preference to stay inside it (and to not hire Larry Brown, who wanted the job). Karl also wanted the gig, but couldn't get out of his contract. And I've read nothing that suggests Lloyd was in a tier above May or Donovan, so the directionality you imply with respect to their list is also questionable.
