There are hundreds of white people on Twitter upset that I spend my money with Black businesses. I don’t care. We’ve got to stop letting people gaslight us into thinking racism isn’t real or that group economics isn’t necessary for Black progress. Right now, Black unemployment is up to 7.2%. For Black women, it’s risen from 5.5% to 6.3% since last year. If we’re serious about confronting discrimination, we have to be intentional about supporting each other. That’s not racist — that’s wisdom. There are always a few Black folks who choose to serve white supremacy. Darrell Glasper is one of them. If you call a Black man a “cancer” for standing up for his people, you’re not just out of line — you’re a tool of the very system we’re fighting. We have to call that out as boldly as they attack us. I’m a free Black man, and I act like it. My doctors? Black. Landscaper? Black. HVAC tech? Black. Electrician? Black. Esthetician? Black. Lawyers, tailor, publicist, business manager, print shop, mechanic — all Black. When I host events, I choose Black venues. Because the Black dollar has to build Black economic power. If you’re white in America, you don’t have to try to buy white — it’s the default. So don’t be offended when Black people choose to be intentional about building our own economic future. It’s cool when you do it, it’s a problem when we do it… yall know the rest…

We need to call a thing what it is. Black tax dollars are fueling an economy that too often leaves Black people out. In an all-Black neighborhood, not one Black face on the crew fixing the roads we paid for. That’s not a coincidence—it’s a system. This is taxation without representation. It’s time for Black elected officials to hold the line: no more contracts without Black representation. Until there’s equity in who gets the work and who benefits from our tax dollars, we must use every bit of our power to shift resources toward our people. In a state that’s 34% Black, a parish that’s 48% Black, and a city that’s 56% Black, it is unacceptable for public dollars to keep flowing to companies that shut Black workers out. We can’t force them to hire us—but our leaders don’t have to keep voting to fund them either. And every time somebody brings up crime in our communities, I’m going to bring up jobs. We fund the building of white wealth every day while being told to “fix our own problems.” That’s not just wrong—it’s corporate welfare. You take money from one community, invest it in another, and then blame the first for the outcomes. If you want to fix crime, start by funding our businesses, hiring our people, and treating our communities like they are equal in investment. Stop asking us to fix the symptoms while you keep feeding the disease.

This is the hard truth black people need to come to understand. And most of the “black leaders” today don’t talk about this. It’s on us to incentivize businesses to want to be in black communities. It’s on us to be a part of the community that allows those businesses to thrive. Not be part of the reason they need to shut down. We don’t talk about accountability enough and that needs to change.

Those of us focused on this work understand that some officials don’t want us all voting. They want the people who agree with them voting. I mentioned on rolandsmartin that @syritarsteib, @emilewashington, @wcsnowden and I went to St. James Parish to talk with Black folks about their power. It’s not wrong for Black people to want to see our tax dollars working for our communities. When the lack of Black leadership makes that deficit worse, uplifting Black leadership isn’t racist — it’s survival and wisdom. Right now, people from THIS state are trying to dismantle the Voting Rights Act. To act like race isn’t a factor is a lie. If we want a thriving future, we must use our critical mass, and demand real outcomes in return for our support. We pay into a system — and it should pay back into our communities. We are not hopeless or powerless, we are misinformed, uninformed, or disengaged. All of which can be addressed. When people ask what can we do, start talking to people and asking deeper questions to ensure they understand their power.

A New Black South isn’t just an idea. It’s a strategy to build Black political and economic power. We have the numbers to shape the future and influence state and local governments. That’s why I teach Civics for the People—so we understand how the system works and how to use our numbers to our advantage. If Black people are 14% of the U.S. population but 38% of Mississippi, we have leverage there. Louisiana is 34% Black. Those numbers matter, but only if we’re organized. Nobody is coming to save us. We have the numbers to save ourselves and help move this nation forward. We have to be willing to build again. I’m not interested in convincing people we deserve power. I’m interested in building enough power that our communities can determine their own future. Every other group organizes, builds critical mass, and exercises political influence. We should unapologetically do the same. This ain’t for everybody. But it might be for you. Support Civics for the People through the link in my bio and help us build a New Black South. Many in white America hate when Black people talk about race, but their whole political model is designed to help one race over everyone else. It’s all a mind game. Trying to trick you into thinking something is wrong with you talking about your history and heritage. They don’t want you to discuss your history because it proves that the stories they tell are lies. Black America isn’t asking you to feel bad for the past, we are demanding that you be true to what you said on paper! We aren’t ignoring the transgressions of your generation that align with the actions of your ancestors. We also know that if we are to maintain the freedoms we fought for it requires us to tell the truth on America. This is why I’m never apologizing for talking about race, or demanding more from this nation, our state, and local governments. I will continue to fight for and protect Black people, live in a Black community, support Black business, and love on Black people out loud. I won’t ever stop believing in the brilliance of Black people. And if you have no issue with his comments you should is have none with mine. We should all be able to be proud of our heritage right? It’s not our fault rapist, murders, and human traffickers is your heritage. But they were good Americans right? Those who know better, do better. Share if you care 🦾

This man is accused of betraying the black community over a video about Jasmine Crockett. Selective morality at its finest. He said, we ignore black-on-black violence tearing through our neighborhoods, no white robes, just us. We glorify our destruction in music, then lament the consequences. Unity’s a slogan while we rob, scam, and kill each other without hesitation. We blame society for war-zone communities, yet cheer the culture keeping them that way. Black pride rings hollow when we rap about murder, degrade women, and romanticize ignorance. We scream “support black businesses” but rush to Gucci instead. We decry gentrification while trashing our own streets, crying when others rebuild. The real threat? Not Trump, not police, not whites, it’s us. Our self-hatred, refusal to accountability, and addiction to victimhood. He’s not abandoning black folks, he’s rejecting the BS. If that stings, good. Maybe discomfort will spark real change.

This video gets at something I think a lot of people on the left still refuse to reckon with. You can’t spend years dismissing, lecturing, and sometimes outright attacking Black voters when they don’t vote the way you think they should, then act confused when Black voters aren’t rushing to join your movement. A lot of us remember 2016. We remember how Black voters, especially Black women, were treated for overwhelmingly choosing Hillary Clinton. We remember the attacks on John Lewis. We remember being told we were voting against our own interests because we didn’t choose Bernie. And now the question is: Why hasn’t DSA made bigger inroads with Black voters? Maybe start there. You don’t build solidarity by demanding Black voters fall in line. You build it by actually listening to them.

Black Twitter keeps telling us to mind our own business that they’ll police their own community. But they don’t. They shrug when black children get shot in drive-throughs or when a black man stabs an innocent black grandma in the throat on a train. No outrage. No accountability. And their dysfunction and violence has been trickling to affect others as a result for years now. Black fatigue isn’t about irrational hatred for a certain race. It’s about your refusal to fix garbage behavior and instead demanding we all change ours to accomodate yours. We are indeed judging by the content of character, not the color of skin.

Black Americans are our OWN biggest problem. Too many of us have a serious issue with accountability. These boys acting like this? That’s on the parents. It’s not on white people. It’s not on the system. It’s not on racism. It’s on parents NOT doing their job. We want nice things in our communities, then turn around and destroy the very businesses that could provide them. We act reckless, lack emotional control, become destructive and then complain that our communities aren’t thriving. We do all of this while pointing our fingers at everyone and everything but ourselves. Black Americans are our own biggest problem.
