Sadly the flats became ghettos in various areas of Glasgow, I’ve had pals who lived in high rise flats and they loved them, reasonable sized, quiet, great views. What happened though was they just filled them with the dregs with no proper sense of community

My uncle moved into a top floor flat as one of the first tenants. I loved visiting and watching the planes passing his windows on the way to the airport.

Hmm... Lived in 191 (block furthest from Maryhill Rd, closest to the Kelvin). Great location! Great communal balcony (if you got on with neighbours). Continuous windows whole width of living-room! But useless storage heaters & single bedroom unusable in winter. I won't miss them.

In a nutshell: 1. Gha couldn't persuade anyone with any choice to live there 2. they became a dumping-ground for folk who couldn't be accommodated elsewhere 3. Rinse and repeat

I saw 2 buildings in 2001 come down very similar to them “ controlled explosions “ . 💭

Poorly built. First flush tenants got out when it become obvious. No-one with any other option moved in after them. Those with no options made the Into ghettos in the sky. Eventually even those without options were refusing to take them. The story of High rises
