Short duration discussion, long duration discussion, in the Business Advisory Committee, you decide how much time you want to take. You can take 12 hours, you can take 18 hours. In the Rajya Sabha, as the leader of the house, I have always believed that we are ready for discussion for whatever number of hours the opposition decides. The opposition parties have walked out of the BAC meeting in protest. Why? Because the government is simply bulldozing its agenda and not listening to the views of the opposition parties. We have asked for a comprehensive discussion on the Waqf Amendment Act, but our views are not being considered. We have requested a proper time allocation for the resolution on the President's rule in Manipur, but our advice is being ignored. We have also asked for an important discussion under Rule 193 regarding voter EPIC cards and the decision to link them with Aadhaar. All opposition parties have demanded this, but it has not been taken up. We have requested that important ministries, such as Defense, External Affairs, Social Justice, and Urban Development, be taken up for discussion during the demand for grants, but this has not been done. The whims of the political masters are evident in the BAC meeting. No space is being given to the opposition. With no other option, we have to walk out, as they are not giving importance to issues like Manipur, the Waqf Act, Voter ID, and EPIC cards. We are all in favour of the Women’s Reservation Bill. However, the way in which it has been brought is questionable, and we have serious reservations about it. It is politically motivated. The Modi government is acting in this manner to target and suppress opposition parties. We have consistently supported the Women’s Reservation Bill and have insisted that it should be implemented on the earlier amendment passed. On delimitation, the government seems to be playing certain tricks. Therefore, all opposition parties are going to take a united stand and fight in Parliament.
