My upcoming release of "Cinematic AI" has made me think about how bodies of work are formed. I think some are manifested and some are revealed. I think "Cinematic AI" falls into the latter category. It was not something I had a clear vision for and then created, but it was something that was revealed to me over time. I thought I saw a glimmer of it early on, but only after some time had past, could I see the body of work emerge. With a bit more context and watching great artists and how they work and think, it finally came to me that this series of 15-20 pieces that I had created could be a worthy collection to mint. AI art has been going through so many transformations from the early GAN work to Collaborative AI to now AI being widely accessible through platforms like MidJourney, Stable Diffusion, and many others. But one area that I have seen explode in recent months is cinematic AI. I distinguish this from animated AI, which has been around for a while, but cinematic AI is where the movements created by AI are getting closer to what you'd see in a movie or captured on a video camera. It still has a long way to go but it is getting more real than surreal as the technology develops. And this is where I seem to have found my groove, my home, my little corner in the artistic landscape. After Runway launched their image-to-video tool, it just blew my mind and I went down a deep rabbit hole and have created a new cinematic AI piece almost every other day for the past few months. I initially saw many of these pieces as just experiments, but with some time to reflect, I am seeing them as having the potential of being relevant pieces of artwork to mark this time in the development of AI. In some cases, I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to create a similar piece again, since the tools I use are not in my control, but in the control of the AI platforms, who are constantly improving and evolving the tools. Given all of this, there is no better way to mark my place in time than on the blockchain. I truly believe that this body of work has the potential to be an important artifact of this era in AI and AI art. It is always hard to judge ones own work, but what I can do is permanently etch in time on an immutable public database saying that I created this. Only time will tell if the work has any value or is of any significance, but who created it and what was created cannot be disputed. I hope this gives you and especially collectors some perspective on the work I'll be releasing next week. I'm still very early in my artistic journey, but hopefully some of you will see promise in what I'm doing and maybe even put in a early bet on my art practice by bidding on a piece next week. More moves to AI-first living. Got the Genspark browser that just came out. One thing I notice is that I like having separate browsers working on different tasks. I'm not a big user of MCPs, since I'm not really a developer. Are you? They have a store of a bunch of MCPs available to use. Most of my AI work is research related, or answering emails and scheduling things, I'm focusing more of my effort there. Genspark has been shipping a ton of stuff the past few weeks, from ability to make slides to a new AI secretary that can schedule things, or help you answer your emails. First I looked at, "does it make sense to move over to this new way of working?" The problem with that is you gotta learn a new browser. Well, it looks like Google Chrome, except it has a prompt window. Click the icons underneath it and you will see you can add X, Notion, Google stuff like calendar and gmail, or a variety of others. But the real power is just talking to it. I asked it what kinds of tasks it can do, and it answered: "Just tell me what you want to accomplish! For example: "Research the latest developments in spatial computing and create a presentation" "Analyze my Gmail for any important emails from this week" "Find information about AI robotics companies and create a spreadsheet" "Generate a video about emerging tech trends" "Help me plan a trip to CES 2026" And so further into AI-first living I go. Ran a super quick test here with the AI Voice "Callum" (who is weirdly over expressive), and just had GPT write a fake script based on the horse's names and feed it in. I did a quick mix and added effects. Would still take a decent amount of work to get it all synced up on timestamps for production quality but yeah, seems like the AI voices are about ready...

I don't know if I ever had a clear vision of 50, but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have been my life as it is now. But this life is rich in ways I could never have imagined or planned, and most of that came to be over my 40s, so I'm excited to see what comes next.

🔌Today I created a virtual web-based null modem so now you can finally play Quake 1 (from 1996) in multiplayer in the browser with other people online! This week I was able to create a virtual printer that listens on the COM2 port to make a web-based printer work in Windows 3.11, like on you can actually print to, it was one of my ideas when I started but it was always too difficult to make, I had no idea where to start, but this week AI was able to do it! Today I woke up and thought "if we can listen to COM2 via JS, how about listen to COM1 from Quake 1?" then we could forward the COM1 data via Websockets and to another user to create a virtual null modem (A null modem was a cable you'd use to connect two computers to each other directly in the 90s, if you couldn't afford buying a network card you'd use this to network, but you could only play with one other computer not multiple) So I built it, it took about an hour and works! I wanted to get Quake 1 in DOS to work with multiplayer for 2 years but I could never get it to work, but now it did it This project is a good benchmark of how capable AI is becoming, figuring stuff out that humans would take months within an hour You can try it here, I don't know how it will match lots of people but let's see, you have to exit to DOS first (ALT-F4 or FN-Option-F4 on Mac), then type CD games, then CD quake, then quake, then ESC, then Multiplayer, then either Create New Game or Join Game, and use Direct Connect, keep settings same and you're in!

I'm up late with the rest of you building AI agents with the new AI browser from Genspark. We can see where this is all going: a new kind of operating system -- one that is very different than the Microsoft centric way that I've been working for 20 years. There are several things that these new agentic browsers bring to you: 1. They let you change how you browse. With an old browser like Google Chrome, you go to your email, Facebook, or X. 2. With these new browsers, you tell it where to go and what to do for you. 3. It can even build software for you. At the end of this video, I have it building me a little YouTube uploading utility, which is very helpful. 4. They have a ton of "applications" built in. Think of it as a new kind of office suite. Docs. Spreadsheets. Slide decks. And much more. All built with AI, not bolted on the side like with Microsoft's Office. 5. They have AI models built "underneath" so you can work privately and cheaply. There’s a lot of new choices you have to make with browsers like this. I’ve been playing with a bunch of them. Some have better user interfaces than others. Some have different versions, slide components, or applications. The reason I like Genspark is because they ship so fast. I’ve been watching this company since its very beginnings, and every week they ship new things. Just yesterday, they shipped a new photo editing feature for my iPhone. I upload a photo and then I can just talk to it and edit it with my voice. It's really cool. I try to reward companies that ship at such a fast rate and that are shipping innovation that improves our lives. It's not that I'm going to stop using Google Chrome. My whole life has been there for, I don't know, almost 20 years now. This is a different way of working and it gives me a space to run my AI tasks that's different than Google Chrome. I run them side by side. One doing old stuff, one doing new stuff. I can keep using Google Chrome for my old stuff, like my email and my calendar. And I use GenSpark or one of the new AI browsers to do new AI-centric things. All sorts of new things that these new agentic browsers open up! Have you tried it, or one of the other new ones yet? SECRET AI POWER TOOL. All modern Apple iOS phones have a a free powerful tool called “Recorder”. Not only is it a great way to take “notes”, it is a great way to get text to train your AI mode on your ideas, questions or statements. The built-in speech-to-text I use hourly. In fact this posting was made this way last night while I was driving. I also have been carrying a full off-Internet local voice memo device for decades for all of my audio interactions (WITH PERMISSION), not to use as evidence, but to build my high context AI, I call The Intelligence Amplifier. The Recorder app is used by me as a way to make quick snippets of my intentional audio. It is a “secret” to many, but I can say it is one. Very powerful free AI tool. I trained a small AI model on small engine repair by having a 71 year mechanic still working just explain in words everything he is doing over the course of 6 months, just his guiding voice. I hope to one source this. I also use this to send long prompts to Mr. Grok CEO ideas I have in our board of directors meetings. Give it a try. The dots in the upper right corner will have a Transcription option.

Sora 2 has the capabilities to make an entire anime episode with time and effort. This is a turning point for generative AI models and it is terrifying to think what is next to come. The difference between Sora and Sora 2 is absolutely staggering. Yes, this looks cool. I put the time into it to make it as close to art as possible. This was not simple to make and not just prompting and throwing it in some editor. Every frame is generated of another scene and even the reference image for characters I used to start this project were AI generated. This was all created with 10 second clips pulled apart and chunked out into the final product. Regardless of the imagery you see, I did not directly use any artist's art for this video. This 10-minute video was generated over the course of a week from more than 700 text prompts. It was built on technology trained by scraping the uncredited, uncompensated contributions of countless human artists and animators. The creation of this single video consumed an enormous amount of energy and water, equivalent to powering a home for days and requiring hundreds of liters of fresh water for cooling. But that is nothing. In the 10 minutes you spend watching this, the global network of AI video generators will create over 6,250 more short videos. The combined energy required for that 10 minutes of global creation is enough to power an average household for nearly 2 years. - It's a double-edged sword. While AI uses immense amount of energy has clear immoral issues with scalping the hard work of artists, this also provides those a medium who have potentially spent their life attempting to draw out the ideas in their head and failing to grasp it. My sister is an artist, I grew up always attempting to draw but never could get the image in my head on paper, I've spent the better part of over 20 years to teach myself through watching videos and practice, however I don't have steady hands and frankly have just been unable to make any vision come to life. Which brings me to the conflict here. This would have been a dream of mine to be able to get frames created and flesh out the story in my head. To make this video professionally, it would be an absurd amount of money. A small studio by itself would be over a million dollars just to start up. To hire a studio would be most likely over ~200k. I would love to make this story I have in my head through legit and traditional means, I would love to start a Kickstarter to get funding and hire artists, voice actors, and a production team. However I know that would most likely be an impossible reach that would further fuel the hate. Regardless, I understand the worry this causes. The fear this produces. However, we can't just ignore where AI is currently at and just tell people not to use it or even worse threaten people who use it. People will always use the shiny new toy in front of them, so the real question is how do we either make it work for us and work along side it, or how do we ACTUALLY implement a method to protect art rather than tell people to not use it. Respect your artists. Review their ToS and don't upload their hard work to a model without permission.

Sora 2 has the capabilities to make an entire anime episode with time and effort. This is a turning point for generative AI models and it is terrifying to think what is next to come. The difference between Sora and Sora 2 is absolutely staggering. Yes, this looks cool. I put the time into it to make it as close to art as possible. This was not simple to make and not just prompting and throwing it in some editor. Every frame is generated of another scene and even the reference image for characters I used to start this project were AI generated. This was all created with 10 second clips pulled apart and chunked out into the final product. Regardless of the imagery you see, I did not directly use any artist's art for this video. This 10-minute video was generated over the course of a week from more than 700 text prompts. It was built on technology trained by scraping the uncredited, uncompensated contributions of countless human artists and animators. The creation of this single video consumed an enormous amount of energy and water, equivalent to powering a home for days and requiring hundreds of liters of fresh water for cooling. But that is nothing. In the 10 minutes you spend watching this, the global network of AI video generators will create over 6,250 more short videos. The combined energy required for that 10 minutes of global creation is enough to power an average household for nearly 2 years. - It's a double-edged sword. While AI uses immense amount of energy has clear immoral issues with scalping the hard work of artists, this also provides those a medium who have potentially spent their life attempting to draw out the ideas in their head and failing to grasp it. My sister is an artist, I grew up always attempting to draw but never could get the image in my head on paper, I've spent the better part of over 20 years to teach myself through watching videos and practice, however I don't have steady hands and frankly have just been unable to make any vision come to life. Which brings me to the conflict here. This would have been a dream of mine to be able to get frames created and flesh out the story in my head. To make this video professionally, it would be an absurd amount of money. A small studio by itself would be over a million dollars just to start up. To hire a studio would be most likely over ~200k. I would love to make this story I have in my head through legit and traditional means, I would love to start a Kickstarter to get funding and hire artists, voice actors, and a production team. However I know that would most likely be an impossible reach that would further fuel the hate. Regardless, I understand the worry this causes. The fear this produces. However, we can't just ignore where AI is currently at and just tell people not to use it or even worse threaten people who use it. Before the open edition tomorrow I wanted to share more on how this new collection came to be. Last year we've all experienced a major shift in the algorithm. Our reach was severely impacted and art posts seemed to be gone in favor of junk/rage posts. Around June last year while sketching in my notebook I doodled a Mickey-esque character with its head squashed by an old monitor. I came up with a rough result in after effects and dismissed it quickly as a nice experiment and nothing more. A couple of months went by and I reopened the files. Added some sounds and once again, in my head it was just a little detour before I make a new piece. Showed it to my wife and she loved it. But still I wasn't sure what to do with it. It looks different next to my other pieces. Thought it's cool but moved on. End of the year was very hard on me, I won't elaborate too much here but If you've been following me you know I had a personal loss. For a while I couldn't even think of creating anything new. Then I reopened the files for this one, and slowly worked my way into refining it. And while doing so I started liking this style more and more. Figured an accessible new collection would work perfectly for this. Getting my art in more hands is the priority here. Seeing your replies that you can finally get an edition of mine really warms my heart and makes this whole thing worthwhile. Hope you'll take this journey with me to see this collection grow over time as I make more and more editions with a fresh take in the Vintage Distortions series. Thanks for reading all my mumblings. You can fix your entire life in one week. Most people waste their week doing tasks they "should" be doing that don't move the needle. The secret, though, is that sometimes you need to go all in and take a week off to go all in on your instincts. All of my most viral projects (Mononoke, Kalshi, Zelda) were initially painful because I had to tell everyone in my life (wife, business partner, co-workers) that I need a creative vacation to take a risk on a moonshot idea. In the case of Mononoke and Zelda, they were big legal risks as well because they're fan films. But they'd keep me up at night, I needed to explore these worlds, even if others didn't understand or would make fun of me. It was like playing a video game. It didn't feel like work, it was fun. I was magically pulled in by curiosity, and I lost an entire week in the blink of an eye. Curiosity and obsession are the bedrock of genius. (I'm still a far cry from genius but it is the mountain we climb as artists) I see so many creative friends who fill most of their time with projects they "should" do to stay in business. And they're right, but you need to take a major break at least once a quarter and spend a week entirely dedicated to something you're obsessed with. One of the countless reasons I love AI filmmaking is that previously, if you had an idea for a short film, you'd have to save up for a year or more just to bring it to life. We now get to do that with any world, instantly. It's crazy how many inbound calls we've had (at my ad agency) because of Zelda. It didn't make business sense. It wasn't easy. But it was the most fulfilling week I've had in a year. You must try this. Take a creative vacation (even better, book a cabin with strong Wi-Fi) and lose yourself in your favorite world for a week. I promise it'll change your life.
