The JP almost feels like Aerith is a friend who is teaching him how to act on a date. The interaction feels do different. In the EN version she seemed she wanted Cloud to tell her those things directly. Maybe the EN direction was off?

Well, she was trolling him in both cases but I can see the difference for sure. I think they were just trying to have her making a joke or something...but I don't think she was being funny at either time. I think that was the point, it was a failed attempt at humor.
