I keep hearing feedback that GitHub Copilot "doesn't have whole project awareness". It absolutely DOES. Here's how to trigger it.

@code This product is confusing in its current state. I loathe having to remember to cmd-enter every prompt. That should be the default imo. It also routinely chokes on workspaces that include multiple repos—e.g., react frontend and python backend.

@code Great feedback - ty. When you say it chokes on multiple repos, do you mean that the chat hangs? Edit or Agent Mode? Can you provide some more detail there?

So this is really good to know. However, you mentioned that if your solution is attached to a GitHub repository, that the index is created by GitHub. But if not, it is local on your machine. So if I make changes to my files, does the index get updated locally first?

That's a great question - I know we handle the diff while you're working, but I don't know the details. I think @digitarald does.

Truly loving copilot in VSC, but I no longer see the point of 'regular' Copilot. I only use Copilot Edits these days with Claude 3.7. I would also like to be able to use my paid version of Claude with VSC/Copilot.

This doesn't seem to work that great though. Like I'm focusing on the front end and then it will start looking at my backend and get creative. Some of my prompts have literally been focus only on the front end... then 15 follow ups later I have to repeat it.
