I want to hear all the competing theses for how manufacturing happens in space. My current view: The first thing we'll manufacture in space won't be spacecraft. It'll be hydrocarbons. We need fuel and food. Survival before sophistication. For a long time, most hardware will still be shipped from Earth. Manufacturing will mostly mean repair, maintenance, and replacement of spare parts by astronauts maybe robots. 1000s of Starships leaving with lots of spare parts every 18 month. So the real challenge isn't producing known parts. It's dealing with the unexpected. Every settlement, station, ship, or habitat will eventually break in ways nobody predicted. New missions will create needs nobody anticipated. Waiting months for a launch window is not a viable supply chain. That implies, space manufacturing cannot begin with giant, specialized factories. It starts with highly versatile systems capable of making many different things from limited feedstocks. Multi-purpose robots. Flexible. General-purpose manufacturing cells. In other words, the opposite of most factories today. My bet is that space manufacturing evolves as a network of distributed robotic job shops and microfactories, not monolithic production plants. The manufacturing systems that win early because they can repair the unexpected will become the industrial legacy of space. When demand eventually grows large enough for mass production, those flexible systems will already be everywhere so that is the paradigm that will scale to large volumes. What's the strongest argument against this?

A few days ago, I responded to reports of four children who were allegedly being neglected by their parents in Mowlem, Embakasi West. While my team and I were busy rescuing the children and ensuring they were taken to safety, criminals took advantage of the situation, broke into my vehicle, and stole several parts from it. Although I was deeply disappointed by the incident, I chose to share a video to expose the theft and appeal to the public for information that could help bring the perpetrators to justice. Today, I am pleased to report that officers from Pangani Police Station, under the able leadership of their OCS, acted swiftly and professionally. Through their vigilance and commitment to fighting crime, they arrested the suspects when they attempted to sell the stolen vehicle parts. The officers contacted me, and I have since positively identified the recovered parts as those stolen from my vehicle. I wish to sincerely commend the OCS and the entire team at Pangani Police Station for their dedication, professionalism, and quick response. Their excellent work demonstrates that when law enforcement and the public work together, criminals can be brought to justice. Your commitment to protecting wananchi and combating crime is truly appreciated. At the same time, I strongly condemn those involved in this theft. I urge our young people to reject crime and instead pursue honest and productive ways of earning a living. Theft not only harms innocent people but also undermines the safety and well-being of our communities. I also appeal to all traders and dealers in motor vehicle spare parts to refrain from buying or selling suspected stolen parts.
