Rocky would’ve never worked as well without Carl Weathers’ performance as Apollo Creed. This is both a great character & a great performance. Apollo was so much more than your run-of-the-mill antagonist. He was nuanced. I was invested in Apollo’s outcome as much as I was Rocky’s.
