I know this is third rail politics but DOGE really needs to look into every Vet the last 20 years getting disability even if they worked in an office or never saw combat.

It's a huge scam in New York from MTA workers, too.

Something isn't right for sure. I suspect most people on it shouldn't be.

I have never met anyone so bad with money as a vet getting a tax free 2k a month in disability payments

I know a guy who had a hatch slam on his hand in the Navy. Ouch. But consider how much the hand was impacted long-term when I tell you the guy is now a competitive MMA fighter. Still getting a monthly check.

Every vet I know talks about the outright fraud. You'll hear someone tore an ACL in a flag football game and now have 90% disability payout and stories like that regularly.

Veteran disability is the one welfare young white people get. It’s not a priority.

handful of my friends are on it because their back gets a little sore or their knee hurts when they run. none of them were within 2000 miles of combat. just painting humvees and changing tires. the two for whom I know the numbers are getting $3-4k/mo.

Some see it as a sort of patronage to military families since we're an all volunteer army. There's alot of military families that join every generation and this kinda maintains a cadre in units.
