Ever since I was a kid, I’ve loved seeing the ball move left to right off the tee, and I’ve always felt like my misses with a fade are less dangerous. A draw might give you a little more juice when it hits the fairway, but I’ll gladly trade a few yards for a ball flight I can trust. There’s a reason so many of the best players in the world favor a fade off the tee. I played state level football and have supported Collingwood my whole life, and there is nothing worse than watching an elite level coach celebrate a draw like it’s some kind of achievement. This is exactly where Australia is at right now. Everyone’s a winner, no one’s feelings get hurt, and mediocrity gets a standing ovation. Pathetic. He should be sacked on the spot. How the hell have we got to the point where a professional coach is out there treating a draw like a moral victory? Life is about winning and losing. Not about how you feel. The AFL needs to stop pushing this soft, participation-trophy bullshit.
