@ty_simpson06 Loved how he scanned the whole field and threw a very catchable ball and how he stepped into the pocket all traits of a polished quarterback.

Warning…Incoming unpopular rant. First things first, this is a positive statement about Alabama. Milroe is the closest thing to Cam Newton that we’ve seen since Cam entered Auburn. He joined a team with average players at almost every position, took the field, and won a championship. Milroe is an elite, perhaps even generational, athlete. He almost single-handedly took Alabama to the National Championship with his athleticism and ability to extend plays. He is a game changer no matter where he lines up on the field. HOWEVER, when Milroe is at quarterback, it comes with a cost. Yes, we have a chance every play to create a dynamic “4th and 31,” but there’s more to it. Milroe doesn’t often check down his reads or throw the ball away. Instead, he takes away from the other players by trying to extend plays too often or going for the jackpot every chance he gets. While he connects with a good amount and can throw the long ball VERY WELL, this approach can detract from the overall team dynamics and strategy. During the Saban era, you could comb Alabama’s entire depth chart and you wouldn’t find a single average player. Not just a few but numerous skill players must get the ball in-game throughout the season for their game to evolve and for the next breakout star to emerge. The linemen need to be considered too; they are another level of the team that suffers from this type of play. Injuries occur from blocking for 5-8+ seconds multiple times in a quarter, which is unacceptable. There will be injuries and there WILL BE BAD SNAPS. Do you really think Alabama can’t get a lineman to snap the ball? No, they just can’t get a lineman who can run a marathon every game and stay big enough and healthy enough to snap the ball and protect himself against the defense. I’m not saying Milroe can’t grow and become an elite QB; he is already great. It’s just that his style of gameplay detracts from the other next-level players we have on the team. This will not only hurt our current players this season, it will cheat them out of what they thought they were getting: THE BAMA STANDARD. It will hurt recruiting… I promise you other coaches will leverage it against Coach DeBoer his entire tenure at Alabama to lure the elite WRs/RBs for each class going forward. Milroe is a Bama legend; that’s undeniable. However, he does not give the team the best chance to win, not with the talent Bama has at every position. We have a Swiss Army knife full of tools, and we shouldn’t limit ourselves to just the pocket knife. I get it, I used to think Greg McElroy and AJ McCarron were boring to watch, but think back to the skill players that developed during their tenure. GOATs. Bond was the other half of “4th and 31,” and I promise you he left because he knew the level of player he was and was not given the opportunity he deserved.

@ty_simpson06 I forgot what it was like to see a QB climb the pocket and keep his eyes downfield. Or scramble down the LOS and read the defense.

@ty_simpson06 NO. He will never see the field for Bama unless we up by 50

@ty_simpson06 Talent, confidence or maturity. I need all hands on deck in that QB room. I don’t need any deer in headlights I need faster decisions and touchdowns.

@ty_simpson06 Ty is QB2 period ppl need to accept it.

@ty_simpson06 QB1

@ty_simpson06 Hope he gets a fair chance 🤞

@ty_simpson06 Going to be a good push on Milroe.

@ty_simpson06 It's definitely going to shake up the competition for qb1! I know it ty has something to prove!! He could've left Bama but didn't. So did milroe but never forget Jalen was benched and Tua started when no one thought he would 🤷🤷🤷
