Ah, yes. The humble Y-wing. The A-10 of Star Wars.

My favorite as well, fixed up a custom from an old broken toy

And they're still in service, in the New Jedi Order/Yuuzhan Vong war and later, as bombers. I think it was the ion cannons that made them both slow and effective against capital ships, and there wasn't much that could be improved upon the design.

Y-wings were awesome fighter/bombers but my personal favorite was always the B-wing!

I like the Y-Wings as much as the next guy, but they clearly established during A New Hope that these ships were technologically obsolete by having them be completely outperformed by X-Wings during the Battle of Yavin. This fandom-wide glazing is getting ridiculous.
