I made a midi controller with Svelte. This thing can be played by your computer keyboard, top two rows for keys, bottom row for chords. In locked key mode, you can change the key and play all chords within that key.

Also, you can hook it up to Ableton's arpeggiator to spread those chords out.

In chord mode, you have free reign to play and chord, but augment the type with the number row. So you can hit those maj7 ect

On mac to route midi from the browser to your DAW, all you need is to enable the IAC Driver from Audio MIDI Setup > Window > MIDI Studio. Then it should exist as a midi output in browser and an input in your DAW.

I used to avoid having to deal with the raw midi bytes.
