I need your help. Starting next Monday we’re going to do a segment called “This Week In Pitch Counts” reviewing examples of pitch count abuse in youth baseball. What I need from you are box score examples. You can either reply to this thread or DM it to me...

The point isn’t to call out specific teams or organizations. I am not interested in pointing fingers. What I am interested in is understanding the ground floor scale of this issue, so I can make the point to the powers that be that overuse is something we can solve at scale.

And to do that I just need more information. So on Mondays I’ll do a short video reviewing what’s been submitted. We’ll talk scientifically about the workload that’s been created & about how a new rule set would prevent these issues. But it starts with getting more info.

So, if you’re a parent or coach in youth baseball, and you’re seeing this kind of overuse take place in your local area, please send me what you’re seeing, so that I can amplify the signal. Kids deserve to be safe in youth baseball. The more we understand the issue, the better we are equipped to develop a system at scale that solves it. Thank you!

I'm here for this. Time to start calling people out by names!

I’m a head HS coach who misses most of the travel season due to high school baseball. Once I'm back at it, most teams we play don't follow any guidelines. Most are consecutive days of 40 pitches; the next day, 80 ish.

I spent much of last weekend trying to shine some light on the different pitch counts from each travel org in my area. It’s hard for parents to hold coaches accountable when the rules change so often.
